Best Folk/Alternative CD this side of the Mississippi,
By A Customer
This review is from: Traveler's Companion (Audio CD)
The music will have you stompin' your feet and singing along in no time. From the beautiful lyrics of 'Sweet Bye and Bye', to the fun whimsical 'Fish in the Sea', everyone's musical appetite will be satisified. Many of these songs were written for and about their own family members and it makes the songs that much more real to the listener. The 'Salvation Song' may just be the soothing balm for your soul. Of course the best way to hear Bonepony is LIVE! But since many of us fans don't get to Nashville very often, this album can ease your cravings for another taste of Bonepony!

Stomp On!,

I first heard Bonepony in June of 1999. They blew my away at a concert I attended, and Traveler's Companion hasn't been far from my CD player since. Highlights from the CD include "The Crush", "Knees", "Mountainside", and "Savanna Flowers". Actually, each track is a highlight in and of itself, as each song is lyrically and musically distinct. I highly recommend adding this CD to your collection - You will not be sorry! ...They are incredible live!

Music at its finest,
By A Customer

After the great CD Stomp Revival, the band has outdone itself with 13 more tracks of acoustic rock at it's finest. With guest names like Lucinda Williams and Reece Wynans, BonePony has put together a CD that you can listen to hundreds of times and not get tired of it.

Traveler's Companion,

Bonepony may be one of those groups that you have to see live to understand, or fully appreciate. The energy level is amazing, and they just put this huge smile on your face. I caught them the first time at the WDVX Camp Out and Jam a few miles north of Knoxville, Tennessee, a blue grass festival. Bonepony uses traditonal bluegrass instruments, except Scott Johnson, the lead, plays an assortment of percussion instruments. Like Robert Fripp said many years ago,,, I like the way it moves my toes. And if your toes remain still, you have passed on to the other side. This is a 3 piece band that produces more music than you can imagine. I have seen them live twice. Traveler's Companion is a terrific, well produce little piece, but you may really want to hook into the website and buy the live CD direct from the boys - Funhouse. Plug it in, and see if you can sit still. If you can, I suggest you should check your own pulse. If your friends do not respond, I suggest you get new friends. Bonepony is bluegrass instruments played to perfection by well educated musicians schooled in rock and every other genre you may have enjoyed in the past couple of decades. These guys are a delight, and they put that huge smile on your face, and you will love the way they move your toes. And, you will dance with them, and their entourage --- the Stomp Revival.

My sister saw this band in a bar in Cape Hatteres, NC and brought the disc back. Ever since then it hasnt been far from the cd player. The funkadelic mix of zydeco beat and bluegrass rhythym provide for a true epicurean listening experience!

I reached the age where the songs I used to listen to end up on compilation CDs being sold on late night television. There wasn't a lot of new music on the radio I could relate to. (And as an amatuer musician myself I probably am too critical to begin with.) I slowly discovered many other genres of music that I hadn't given much listen to before - country, traditional Irish, reggae, even (I'll deny I admitted it) new age. Still, even with some new hope, I had long since given-up attending live concerts (x-cept Mellencamp of course). That's where Bonepony comes in. I happened to see them live, and my musical soul has been smiling ever since. Not only were they all awesome musicians, but the song writing is/was for the most part top-notch. Put it this way, I haven't listened to a new CD cranked with my windows rolled down in a long time - I haven't been able to roll them up yet (and it's damn cold in Indiana right now!). It's hard to describe their music, but they jam on guitars, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica, etc... Check out their website and let them describe it for you http://www.bonepony.com. Do yourself a favor and order the CD, and catch the band LIVE as soon as possible - their vibe has to be seen/heard/felt to be believed.

Powerfull Music that Crosses all Genres,

To try to describe in words the depth of emotion and pure energy in BonePony's Traveller's Companion does not do it justice. You simply must listen to, or better yet experience live, BonePony. I first saw them at a small local club in Bowling Green, KY by accident. I had never even heard of them, but as soon as their blissfull harmonies and heart pounding rythms graced my ears I was addicted. I immediately wondered how are all of these amazing sounds coming from those three people on stage. The only explanation to why these guys are not amazingly rich and famous is the fact that you cannot pin a label on them.BonePony will simply have to wait for the rest of the world to catch up with them. In the meantime you can listen to this CD!
