Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Roberts, an editor of the "Arts and Leisure" section of the Sunday New York Times, divides his useful guide into three main parts. The first is a list of major traveling exhibitions, arranged alphabetically by title. This is a bit confusing because the title is often the first name of the artist. In the second portion, a list of exhibition schedules for U.S. museums arranged by state is offered. Each entry uses a symbol to indicate whether it has tours, family programs, food, shops, or handicapped accessibility. The third section is a list of exhibition schedules outside of the United States arranged by country. Three brief essays on Eastern art, buying art, and European museums off the beaten path are also included. There are many black-and-white photographs of some of the exhibits and an art-related crossword puzzle as well. Recommended for academic and public libraries.DGeorge M. 5.0 out of 5 stars a must buy for the traveler..., February 4, 2001
By

This review is from: Traveler's Guide to Art Museum Exhibitions 2001: The New York Times (Paperback)
This book is the most comprehensive guide to exhibitions and is, therefore, a must have for the traveler. The most important aspect of the book is its listings of the various touring exhibitions, both by state and by country. The book contains useful information including: addresses (both street and web site), telephone numbers, hours of operation, and cost of admissions. I buy a copy for myself every year, as well as, give a few as Christmas presents to my art-loving friends. What other travel book can you buy and be able to use it EVERYWHERE? Just this one!
