Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Following the tradition of the "Travelers' Tales" series, this collection explores the themes of wilderness in everyday life. Here women experience life through nature and all it has to offer, and even far-flung journeys lead back to the self. A tiny daughter plays with building blocks made up of rocks and shells collected from every beach her mother visited on a trip around the world. A young woman sees the magic of the Icelandic mountainside by exploring the folklore of the raven symbol given to her at the beginning of her trip. Traveling through the desert of India, unable to speak the language of the people or to sleep more than two hours a day, a woman fights to keep her sanity. Authors include such notables as Alice Walker, Jane Goodall, and Louise Erdrich. Recommended for public libraries.?Stephanie Papa, Baltimore Cty. Circuit Court Law Lib., Towson, MD

4.0 out of 5 stars Women - experiencing, February 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Travelers' Tales - Women in the Wild (Paperback)
This is a collection of experiences that come from women who are a cut above the norm. The stories include travelling experiences, but they are more about centered, courageous women who are paying attention to the life around them. Short, but well written, inspiring stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars First-person experiences capture both adventure and connection and are a pick for any lending library, November 16, 2009
This review is from: Travelers' Tales - Women in the Wild (Paperback)
Deserving of ongoing recommendation is this lively survey of 'wild women' who journey into remote wilderness locations to make discoveries and have adventures. From Iceland, Ireland, Ecuador to India, first-person experiences capture both adventure and connection and are a pick for any lending library.

Check out page 100...the inset box. That's from my story! You may laugh at its miniscule size, but at least TT paid me for it!

Oh yeah. The rest of the book is good too.
