1.0 out of 5 stars There's much better
A scattered, spacey, self-indulgent book full of irrelevant information. For a well-written, grounded, and inspiring overview of the Hemi-Sync path, Bruce Moen has written a series of superb books.

This review is from: Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness: A Driver's Instruction Manual : Using Hemi-Sync to Access States of Non-Ordinary Reality (Paperback)
This book is a must have for any serious explorer of altered states of consciousness. Drawing on a wealth of personal experience, Patricia Leva explains in clear, easy to read language the use of Hemi-Sync technology. Any one familiar with the work of Robert Monroe will find this "manual" a valuable aid to their own explorations. Included in the book are real life experiences of other travelers sharing their very interesting and inspiring stories. This is not an "about" book, this is a "How To" book. I highly recomend this book to any any person desiring to explore more deeply the possibilities inherent in Hemi-Sync technologies.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Guide to Interstae travel Bob Monroe is proud of., January 20, 2000

This review is from: Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness: A Driver's Instruction Manual : Using Hemi-Sync to Access States of Non-Ordinary Reality (Paperback)
This book is required reading for any person desiring to utilize Hemi-Sync technology to access altered conciousness states. It clearly explains the different focus states, and how to achieve and recognize them. Ms. Leva uses very easy to understand metaphors, allowing folks not familiar with works from Oudspensky, Gurdjieff, Castaneda to become aware of these different levels of conciousness. The book is very well organized, printed on good quality paper, and will be a an asset to any reader's library of literature on Metaphysical exploration. Her life's experience of exploration is shared openly and concisively.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, September 2, 2004
This review is from: Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness: A Driver's Instruction Manual : Using Hemi-Sync to Access States of Non-Ordinary Reality (Paperback)
I was extremely disappointed with this book. I was expecting a comprehensive "how-to" guide on how to get the best from Hemi-Sync, but instead was bombared with buzzwords like wormholes, tachyons, "The Force", etc which leave you wondering whether the author has completely lost the plot. Leva states that you should use the "right grade of energy", and her sole advice on how to do this is to read someone else's book! There is a completely irrelevant chapter on the history of Star Trek, plus the book is padded with lots of emails between Hemi-Sync fans which are interesting, but should probably be left on a newsgroup server or web site rather than filling out the book.

There are some descriptions of the TMI work, but nothing I haven't read elsewhere. If you are interested in the work of TMI then Bruce Moen's books are a lot more readable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Robert Monroe's books!, February 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness: A Driver's Instruction Manual : Using Hemi-Sync to Access States of Non-Ordinary Reality (Paperback)
This is sure to become the bible of Hemi-Sync users.

I read all three of Robert Monroe's books on out of body travel (Far Journeys, Journeys out of the Body, and Ultimate Journey) and loved them. All are undisputed classics of the genre. This book, though, is even better, because Ms. Leva's approach is broader and more holistic.

I recommend this book to anyone wishing to learn more about Hemi-Sync, out of body travel or the nuances of human awareness.

4.0 out of 5 stars An original atlas of human consciousness., April 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness: A Driver's Instruction Manual : Using Hemi-Sync to Access States of Non-Ordinary Reality (Paperback)
Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness is an exploration of the highways and byways of human consciousness, largely based on the pioneering work of Robert Monroe. But Leva moves beyond any singular study, traveling across the vast terrain of consciousness, touching on all the major thinkers from Gudjieff to Castaneda. Like on a continental bus tour, Leva, our guide, introduces us to many wondrous sights, a smorgasbord of concepts. She touches upon everything from sacred geometry to the awakening of the kundalini, from multidimensionality to the study of the human brain, making this an ideal read for the explorer who has just begun his or her own journey. Leva ably escorts us through the realms of dreams, astral travel, and no-time-no-space, pointing out the markers and sign posts that will guide us on the inevitable solitary journeys that will follow. Our journey on the 'Interstate of Consciousness' is one of camaraderie, a shared experience, as we come to know our guide, Leva, and our fellow travelers who speak at length about their own experiences in 'on-line conversations'. 'Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness' is an atlas of human consciousness that no explorer can afford to be without.

Patricia includes very good descriptions of the process of Hemi-Sync being taught at the Monroe Institute. Patricia herself is/was a teacher at TMI. Patricia seems very 'New Age' oriented and for some reason feels to need to provide analogous scientific support for mental structures and tools used at TMI. Examples are the "Einstein-Rosen bridge", the "wormhole" from Star Trek, a dimensional portal from the Sci-Fi show "Sliders". She also includes her personal philosphy in chapter 3 that just left me saying "What the heck?"

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to penetrate, January 8, 2003
This review is from: Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness: A Driver's Instruction Manual : Using Hemi-Sync to Access States of Non-Ordinary Reality (Paperback)
Honestly, I was quite disappointed with this book, but that could be perhaps my expectations were set quite high, or I was expecting something else. The main difficulty for me with this book is that I feel the analogy with "real-life" automobile travel is taken a bit too far, so much so that too much mental energy is required to figure out what the author is trying to say.
I was also expecting the book to be more like a manual for the Gateway Experience tapes/CDs which the Monroe Institute never had, but this is not, though I admit this expectation could have been my fault, so I have not marked it down for this reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book on out -of- body travel, April 24, 2001

This review is from: Traveling the Interstate of Consciousness: A Driver's Instruction Manual : Using Hemi-Sync to Access States of Non-Ordinary Reality (Paperback)
I found the book very informative on describing out of body states of consciousness as put forth by The Monroe Institute. The author brings a personal, lighthearted touch to a very serious subject. I particularly enjoyed her weaving of Star Trek, Georges Gurdjieff, and P.D. Ouspensky, into the topic of out- of - body travel. I found this book very valuable in helping clarify the different states of consciousness connected with the other side. It was well done, lucid and had a light touch.
