great companion to driving the Trace - very well-written,
By A Customer
This review is from: Traveling the Trace: A Complete Tour Guide to the Historic Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez (Paperback)
This is a "must" companion piece for anyone who drives the Natchez Trace, whether for 4 miles or 400. Without the book's detailed information about the Trace's history, the towns it runs through, and the many recreational opportunities along the way, the Trace would be just another road. The Summerlin's book and their subject remind us that life is indeed a journey, not a destination

This guide has given us a chance to really enjoy traveling the Natchez Trace. We have seen place we did not even think about seeing and have really enjoyed our time there. I have lived in Mississippi all my life but never really enjoyed the Trace until getting this book and following its suggestions for places to visit and things to see.

This review is from: Traveling the Trace: A Complete Tour Guide to the Historic Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez (Paperback)
What a great dissapointment!. Organization of this work is backwards from the traditional travel of the Trace. I expected it to go from Natchez to Nashville but it is just the opposite and that does not work with the mileage markers.
Other than the cover all the photos are small and not of great quality; I expected much better. Maps - there are NONE. How does that work for a "tour guide?" There are no internet addresses or any email addresses for anything mentioned in the book: accommodations, attractions, restaurants, shopping, events or for additional information. I tried phone calls to several places and half of the numbers were no longer in service. This publication is just too far out of date to be of much use. Certainly not worth the purchase price.
