5.0 out of 5 stars the best and the worst of the Hawkwind 80s crusty movement??, May 23, 2007
This review is from: Travellers Aid Trust (Audio CD)
This historical tome of the beast of Hawkwind-relations contains some Hawkwind numbers("Brainstorm Stonehenge '88", "Damage Of Life", a Nik Turner "(Silver) Washing Machine"), an excellent Ozric Tentacles track, many bands that later had members joining Hawkwind (Jerry Richards from Tubilah Dog and Bridget Wishart from Hippy Slags etc.), some very cool reggae (isn't it called ska? its pretty fast stuff anyway) like the brilliant Culture Shock with "Civilization Street" etc. and some otherwise rousing rebelliousness from the remains of the festival scene in 80s UK garthered around the post-Stonehenge days (The festival continued in neighboring areas after 1984 (?))..... Recommended for anyone who cares about this band and their friends of ill repute!! Onward may they fly.......

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Travellers Aid Trust' - Various Artists (Anagram), January 10, 2006
This review is from: Travellers Aid Trust (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1988 as a 2-lp pressing, but now it's been conveniently reissued on one CD.Isn't technology wonderful?Total of seventeen tracks, with twelve contributing artists. It's actually pretty good, that is FOR a various artists.I know some patrons that TRULY hate any/all various artists compilations.Believe me,with 'Travellers...' it's THEIR loss. Most of these cuts are very good sounding and well produced.I liked "Brainstorm Stonehenge" and "Blue Dreamer" by Hawkwind,"Damage Of Life" by Agents Of Chaos, the inventive "Even The Air Is Dreaming" by Ozric Tentacles,"Making Love On The Telephone" and "Messed Up" by Tubilah Dog and "Johnny Briggs" by Radio Mongolia the best. Also, the closer,Nik Turner's "Washing Machine" is the novel answer to "Silver Machine".The others I can take 'em or leave 'em.Check it out when you can.
