Didgeridu with ancient Australian spirit,
By "jablowme" (The Land of Confusion) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Travelling (Audio CD)
I first heard Charlie McMahon and Gondwana's "Travelling" CD when I was at the airport in Sydney waiting to fly back to San Fransisco. While walking past a gift shop, I was drawn in by the driving, haunting, and soul-stirring sounds of McMahon's didgeridu, complimented nicely by other instruments I was more familiar with. The song sounded great, but I was almost broke and didn't want to buy a CD that only had one good song. The sales clerk offered to play another of the songs for me, and I stood, entranced. When the song was over, I happily bought the CD and ran to catch my plane.Once home, I listened to the whole CD. I was not disappointed! Every song is different, and all seem to evoke the travelling spirit. A couple of the songs have lyrics, but most are instrumentals, didgeridu accompanied by light jazz and various other types of music. The whole CD is very good, and listenable, and the didgeridu evokes the deep rhythm and ancient spirit of Australia. Great music with headphones, during time with friends, or in the background while spending an evening at home. I highly recommend it. |
