As a frequent traveler, I ordered this item as a space- and weight-saving alternative to my trusty converter/adapter set. I received the item and promptly departed on a trip overseas. Thank goodness I took my old set as a back-up. The USB port on this item worked for a total of 1-2 minutes and hasn't worked since. I used it to adapt a european style outlet for my dual voltage laptop charger and after approximately five minutes, it began to hum and emit the odor of melting wires. Finally the fuse blew and I chucked the item in the bin. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Ingenious design, worked fine out of the box at home, where it really didn't matter. Partway through the European trip for which we bought it, an intermittent connection developed somewhere inside. We improvised a work-around, but don't trust ours much to function as designed.
