Travelpro has improved their wheels and handles in the past few years, although I am not 100% convinced the handles are not problem free yet. I buy suitcases even when I don't need them, like some women buy shoes, but I DO use Travelpro suitcases I buy. This one rolls well in the airport on both carpet and concrete floor, as well as on the streets surface. Inside the airplane, it goes down the aisle in coach cabin and fits under the seat. It has ONE simple front pocket for quick reach of frequently used items during journeys such as passport, train tickets, or sunglasses. The handle at bottom helps as well if you know about proper body mechanics of lifting.

Great for a one day trip with room to spare but I guess it all depends on how much you need to bring...for me a change of clothes is fine. I have a separate briefcase for laptop and presentations so all I needed was a bag for clothes. Seems durable and well constructed. My priorities were to get something small to fit in an overhead, provide room for a change of clothes (or two)and spend less than $150 for it all. The handle seems fine and long enough for someone 6' tall. Overall, I've not been disappointed.

I bought this bag as an alternative to a 21" roller. My goal was to avoid the "you must check rollaboards at the bottom of the jetway" situations. This bag is supposed to fit under seats, and I have sneaked it past the rollaboard ban. I've definitely been able to put it in an overhead when a 19" wouldn't have fit. This bag can fit a whole set of Rick Steves Packing Cube- 3 Set (1 lg, 2 med) with room to spare, both at the bottom between the rolling frame and on top. That is good for at least two nights on a business trip. The mesh pocket on the lid is well-proportioned, though not very deep.

The main drawback is the single outer pocket. For the price, weight, size, and overall versatility, I was willing to compromise there. My handle is a little looser than I'd like, but it does collapse in five sections, and I've noticed no problems.

If you're a road-warrior, then this might not be durable enough or big enough for you. But then you probably have "status" enough for early boarding with your 21" rollaboard. For those of us who travel just enough to hate business travel but not enough to earn elite status, this bag will help avoid checking bags at the gate.

UPDATE: January 2014
Late last year I spent nearly six weeks on the road, and my experience validated everything I wrote above. This bag was onboard for every flight. On an Embraer regional jet the overhead was too narrow from top to bottom, but the bag fit under the seat in front of me. I'm also a big fan of the blue color. It's professional enough but doesn't blend in with the sea of black bags so it's easy to spot for a quick deplaning.

If you travel spartan two nights can work, and very spartan can get you three meetings. At least two of the weeks I took this bag and it was a squeeze for 3 meetings. I had to rewear one pair of trousers and had a minimal toiletries kit stuffed into my backpack along with my laptop and business papers. I was able to jam in a pair of running shoes and workout clothes. (I handwash and line-dry my workout clothes, thanks to miracle synthetic fabrics.)

When we did four meetings in a week I had to use my 21" bag. One time I jammed one change of clothes in my backpack, but I didn't like mixing those with my other stuff, so the next four-meeting-week I took the 21" with me.

I am seriously considering the Travelpro Luggage Maxlite 2 20" Expandable Rollaboard and will post a review if I get it. The one inch (vs. a 21") can make a difference--if the compartment doesn't close, your bag goes down below. I've seen it enough times.

This is a GREAT and sturdy little baby that also complies with any out there that fly Spirit Airlines and want to stay away from the ridiculous fees for baggage! It was perfect for a 4 day trip and held it all great! If you are staying longer, it would be too small, but for a short trip and the handiness of your "stuff" at your fingertips, a great purchase, I will be using it many times!

I am a die hard fan of travelpro luggage. Have spent 19 years of weekly business travel, both air and car. I have used travelpro since the beginning and am so happy with all my purchases.

Travelpro holds up well to all the knocking around it gets.

This item is pretty plain, just one big area to stuff, with a mesh pocket inside, and a big pocket outside.

My husband and I went on an overnight by train recently and used this. It held several changes of clothes for both of us, as well as toiletries, with room for more. For a little overnight trip, it was great.

Also, there is a strap on the back of it that allows you to piggyback it on another roller bag. So if this is your carry-on, it can ride on your checked baggage until you check in. Handy!

Well constructed. Rolls easily. Roomy with convenient outside zip pocket. Fits under seat in airplane (this is important for airlines, like Spirit, that charge for using the overhead bin).

This unit appears to be well made. It has a front pocket for housing a small portable computer etc.
Inside the main compartment is a zippered mesh liner. The front opens fully via velcro fasteners on
each side...a convenient feature. The handle appears sturdy and fits into a zippered compartment
when not in use. The two wheels likewise appear sturdy. There are handles on the top and the bottom.
It's extremely light. When reduced in price it's really a bargain. Overall this is a very satisfactory piece of luggage. Recommended highly.

Sturdy, rolls well, good space. Outer pocket holds laptop & files, or back pillow. Yes, it fits under normal airline seats.

I like this bag mainly because it does carry a lot - it is just one big open main compartment, with a shallow pocket in the front and mesh pocket on the inside. Some bags you lose so much packing space with all the fabric they use to make compartments. If you plan to pack a laptop in this bag, you will need a neoprene or other kind of padded sleeve. I already had one for my laptop, so it wasn't an issue. I can fit my computer, chargers, a good size stack of files, a bag of office supplies, two pairs of ladies shoes, a small toiletry bag, and one change of clothes in this bag. Good for an overnight business trip, or even when I'm gone for longer, I have learned the hard way that having a change of clothes in your carry on is a good idea. It's about 3/4 the size of a regular carry on size roller suitcase (20" or so). You CANNOT use this as a "personal item" on a plane, though, so if you plan to carry on a 20" roller suitcase AND this bag, they will probably stop you from boarding. It does NOT fit under the seat of most planes, in my experience (and I've brought it on American Eagle, US Airways, JetBlue, Delta, and Frontier). My work pays for me to check a bag, so I just do that for most of my clothes and such, and take this with my purse on the plane. It does have a really great flap on the back where you can stack it on your larger roller bag (or even one of a similar size) and it won't tip or fall off - nice if you do have another suitcase. This bag rolls nicely, and is sturdy. I've hauled it around major cities every other week for about six months (including in the rain and snow) and it's still looking nice and rolling nice.
