Tony Aspler is the most widely-read wine writer in Canada. He is the editor of Winetidings Magazine and has been the wine columnist for The Toronto Star since 1980. As a consultant and wine judge, he makes frequent trips to the vineyards and wine fairs throughout the world and is a member of the North American Advisory Board of the Institute of Masters of Wine. He is also a novelist whose nine books include the Ezra Brant wine murder mysteries: Blood is Thicker Than Beaujolais, The Beast of Barbaresco, and Death on the Douro.

About the Author

Tony Aspler is the most widely read wine writer in Canada. He has been active on the international wine scene since 1964. As a consultant and wine judge, he makes frequent trips to the vineyards and wine fairs of Europe, and is recognized as the leading authority on Canadian wines.
His previous books include Travels With My Corkscrew, Tony Aspler’s Guide to New World Wines, International Guide to Wine, Tony Aspler’s Dinner Companion (with Jacques Marie), Cellar & Silver (with Rose Murray), Aligote to Zinfandel, and his is also the author of the wine mystery novels featuring wine writer Ezra Brant, Blood Is Thicker Than Beaujolais, The Beast of Barbaresco and Death On The Douro.
Tony Aspler has lectured extensively on wine around the world and has been accorded international honours for wine writing. The wine columnist for The Toronto Star since 1980, Aspler is the executive editor of Winetidings magazine and has contributed to other international wine publications. He is the creator of the Air Ontario Wine Awards Competition, a member of wine advisory board for Air Canada and is on the North American Advisory Board of The Institute of Masters of Wine.
