These three albums were released in 1972-1973 after Glen's television show went off the air, and like The Monkees TV show before his, chart positions and single and album sales dropped starting about the time the broadcasts ended. These albums were modest successes on the charts during their years of release, but nothing like what he'd experienced in the late 1960's. I don't even remember seeing these albums in the LP racks during the years of their release, and picked up the LPs in the late 1970s as cutouts for a couple bucks each. What I discovered were three truly great albums with excellent sound quality, great song selections, and great performances by Glen. I consider the first two of these three albums as being among Glen's finest that he ever released.

"Glen Travis Campbell" was released in 1972 and contains great performances of songs such as "I May Never Pass This Way Again", "She Thinks I Still Care", "Running Scared," "The Last Thing On My Mind" and "One Last Time," which was a strong 45 single release that inexplicably only reached #33 on the country charts and #78 on the pop charts.

"I Knew Jesus Before He Was A Superstar" contains songs by Bob Dylan ("If Not For You"), Kinky Friedman ("Sold American"), Ian Tyson ("Someday Soon") and Glen's version of "Amazing Grace". Another superior album.

The Hank Williams tribute album is OK, but seems more of a "covers" album than anything else Glen has ever released. While the two previous albums were loaded with good cover songs, there was original material on them as well as the cover songs. The original LP pressing was more interesting for its inclusion of larger photos of Glen's boyhood and early years on the full-size album cover.

Nobody has been a bigger Glen Campbell fan over the years then me. He was the first singer that I liked. I was 9 years old and we went to the theater to see True Grit. I had liked him for awhile but the only albums my parents had of his were Galveston and the Astounding 12 string guitar. My dad did like musicians. So as I got older and started earning my own money I started getting more and more of his albums. I even stuck with him through all his crazy years. So now for the review. The Glen Travis Campbell album isn't my favorite album of his. My favorite song on it is Sweet Fantasy. With Someone To Give My Love To next. I dont remember if this was before Johnny Paycheck did tht song or not. The rest of the album is sort of not that great but not that bad. I knew Jesus is sort of the same. My favorite song on it is Sold American. When the cd arrived and I listened to it I had forgotten how many of these songs I had on albums by other people. If not for you by Olivia, your the one by The Oaks, I take it on home by Charlie Rich, and someday soon by everybody. I actually didn't have the Hank Williams album and to me it doesn't work. All the songs sound the same. With too much orchestration and back up singers that sound like a choir oening up just about every song. It is my hope that since none of these are his best selling albums that they will continue to release his back log of albums on cd. The next to cd set could be Houston, and Live at the royal festival hall. Or anything that hasn't been put on cd yet. Please please please please please please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glen Campbell Album Review May 4, 2013

These 3 albums are a must have for any Glen Campbell fan. All of the tracks on these albums are strong. Glen sings a pleasant version of the Bob Dylan song If Not for You and Someday Soon is my favorite song on the CD. Glen performs good cover versions of the Hank Williams songs on the I Remember Hank Williams album.
