5.0 out of 5 stars Great Alternate Takes From Shangri-La!
This is a great EP for Knopfler fans. It contains alternate takes from "Shangri-La" (plus "Rudiger" from "Golden Heart"). This is a more relaxed Knopfler than you may be used to. It isn't that he isn't polished (he can't help himself but be incredible); it's just a very laid back recording. I am especially fond of Chad Cromwell's drumming here, especially on "Song For...

I am especially fond of Chad Cromwell's drumming here, especially on "Song For Sonny Liston."

The standouts here are "Song For Sonny Liston," "Boom, Like That," "Everybody Pays," and "Stand Up Guy." I think I actually prefer these versions of "Song For Sonny Liston" and "Boom, Like That" to the ones from "Shangri-La," and that is truly saying something.

If you like the Music of Mark Knopfler, this will be a welcome, unique, and wonderful addition to your collection.

This review is from: Trawlerman's Song (Audio CD)
Mark is one of the defining artists of out time, from Dire Straits to now, he has remained an incomparable talent. Fine song writing in the balladeer tradition, mixed with sublime musicianship, this is a 'must have' for all true music enthusiasts.
