This is a nice little FTA receiver. And it is little measuring only 1.5H x 7.75W x 6D in inches. However it seems to pack in all the features I was looking for in a receiver. It replaced a Coolsat 5000, the first FTA receiver I've ever owned. So this was only my second receiver. And the Coolsat still has the original firmware it was received with. Pirating encrypted satellite channels was never my interest. I had the Coolsat for about six or seven years. A lot has changed since then.

The Traxis Dbs6000hd does an excellent job with the HDMI output. Though 1080i is the maximum resolution, it upscales and renders nicely on my newer TV especially compare to the composite output from the now ancient Coolsat. That was probably my biggest reason for getting it. The audio is delivered through the HDMI. That's nice. It also receives and plays Mpeg4 HD channels. I expected there would be more HD channels now that the US has gone all digital for broadcast TV. After clearing the channels and doing a blind scan it came up with less than a dozen HD channels out of 269 total on Galaxy 19.

Blind scan worked well and did as good a job as the Coolsat. I think the Traxis was quite a bit faster. Changing channels on the same satellite takes a moment for the video to come through, typically less than a second, but there is a brief delay. That is also similar to the Coolsat. Favorites works really well. On the Traxis I use the favorites. I never did on the Coolsat. I haven't figured out how or even if you can delete individual channels from the channel list, but with favorites it doesn't really matter. Favorites are easy to set up and use. And you can have up to ten favorite channel collections.

So I am entirely satisfied with my purchase.
