Fast, fun, high tech. The best car ever. Ready to race, this is a super fast mini car that will amaze anyone.
Very easy to use, good packaging.
The only problem that I see is that I have no idea why are they including those ridiculous NiHM batteries. Don't waste your money and buy the Lipo at least 2000mh. You will thank me for this advice. Lipo batteries will make your car go faster than ever and you will be able to do more tricks with it for a longer period of time than with the regular NiHM batteries. And the best thing is that Lipo 2000mh cost the same as a NiHM battery. You will need just special precautions and care to use these type of batteries but just read the instructions and you should not have any problems. I will recommend also to buy a charger for Lipo and NiHM since you will have one NiHM battery that comes included with the car (although I really think that traxxas should make standard the Lipo batteries instead of the NiHM batteries. The difference on performance between this batteries is huge.) I bought the Xcelorin charger is super fast and very easy to use and works for all batteries types including of course Lipo and NiHM. You will not need any other charger. You will need a traxxas type of connection adapter though. Believe me once you drive your car with a Lipo battery you will never ever will use again the NiHM batteries.
Have fun.
This is an Update December/28/2010: I fried my ESC with the NiHM batteries connected in serial. I called Traxxas and they asked me to send the ESC which I did. They replaced my ESC and also checked the motor. All for free. They gave me a new ESC free. I am really happy with the customer service and all technical support from Traxxas. I will continue to buy traxxas product and I wish other companies would imitate them. Regarding the NiHM again it is not worthy not even in serial. Better the Lipo in parallel wheelies and super fast car with Lipo 3s. Just after a couple of minutes check the temperature of the motor and the ESC if it is hot (not warm) then stop running it. Also as soon as it lose power (reduce in 50% of the speed) stop the car it means that is overheated.
Hope it is helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best battery RC car October 31, 2010

Great RC car! I'll try giving the details to this car. If you are buying electric and looking for a good price the Revo VXL is the one. Although small enough to hold in one hand this is a fast car. The car can go to 30MPH with stock battery which is the 7.2V 1200mAh. The stock charger is an overnight charger which takes about 6 hours, but you should seriously get a fast charger. Basically 1.2 amp charger will charge this 1200mAh in 1 hour. So 1 amp per 1000mAh battery. But be safe and don't over amp charge it. So the question I always had was, how long does the battery last? Well, it lasts about 10-12 min on average use. After some research I concluded that basically for every 100mAh of battery = 1 min run time. So for example a 1200mAh = 12 min run time. In terms of the highest battery I know of as of today NIMH is the 1600mAh and if you use the parallel adapter and connect two batteries you will double your run time so 2 1600mAh batteries will give approx. 30 min run time. If you use the series adapter and connect the batteries you will double your speed instead, so approx. 50MPH or so. You can always upgrade to Lipo batteries but for the advanced person.

PROS:
Small
clean
quieter than nitro
fast

CONS:
stock charger slow
stock battery lasts only 10 min

Overall is a great RC car!

5.0 out of 5 stars All things to all men. August 20, 2010
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Just got back into the hobby after a 6 year absence. Most of my background was in either touring cars or in mini (1/18 or smaller) scales. Never did much with offroad just due to the location of where I live, though I did build a Stampede in the early 2000's.

About a month ago on a whim I bought a Losi Mini LST2 LE. Fun little truck indoors and all, and definitely love the looks. I wanted a bit more capability and speed.

Was originally going to get a Mini Slash VXL, but after some reading, decided to get the Mini E-Revo VXL for handling.

Decided to also pick up two 2s LiPo packs since I've had good luck with LiPo on my MLST2 and R/C Heli. Couldn't resist getting a 3s pack as well.

First thing I did was slap the included NiMH pack onto my charger and perused the manual. I have to say that Traxxas makes some awesome manuals, everything was easy enough to find and figure out. I can imagine for a beginner it would be as well.

My Team Orion Charger beeped after about 40 minutes, and I threw the pack into the car and took it for a spin. On the single NiMH it was already much faster than my MLST2 with LiPo, but the pack dumped after about 5 minutes. Darned false peak on new packs! That probably wouldn't be an issue with the included overnight charger, but with a peak charger sometimes new NiMH packs will false peak.

Back up stairs, and throw one of my 2s LiPos on the charger. About 40 minutes later it's full and ready to go. Set the LiPo cutoff on the ESC up, and take it outside. Put the throttle down a bit too quickly, and WOW. MERV is on it's roof! So much for the scratch-free body.

Ran it about 15 minutes or so around the parking lot and through some of the mulched areas around my apartment. It's easily faster on 2s than my old touring cars were and a real hoot. Can of the motor was pretty warm, but given I was doing a lot of hard acceleration, wheelies, and full throttle passes it wasn't out of line with what I was used to. ESC was cooler than the motor, and only a little warm. LiPo cutoff kicked in perfectly; both cells were at about 3.25v when I put the pack back onto the charger later in the evening.

Did a run the next day with a 3s LiPo battery and smaller pinion. HOLY MOLY! I ran out of room before I hit full throttle. This little guy is VERY fast on 3s, but I'd watch the temperatures there and would only do 3s on pavement.

I'm thinking I will probably want to get a motor/esc fan / heatsink combo to keep the heat under control.

I have to say though that out of the box I'm really impressed. No glitches from the radio, initial build quality seems solid, and I have no complaints about my first run with handling or speed.

Highly recommended kit - it's small enough to run almost anywhere, seems to be very solid, and has a lot of speed for anyone.
