I first purchased a T-Maxx 3.3 which is great for bashing but I then wanted something with better handling.

IMPORTANT NOTE: From the factory both my T-Maxx and Revo had a loose slipper clutch. This means the engine is turning but the power doesn't make it to the transmission. Neither would shift into second until I tightened the slipper clutch. I have spoke with others and this is very common. Tighten that slipper clutch before break in!

First off, don't expect to pay for it and be done. You'll end up putting a few hundred into this beast before you know it. It's not that the truck sucks, it's that it's so much fun you'll want more.

Second, this has an engine and like a full size engine parts break and require maintenance. If you aren't up for constant maintenance I suggest the E-Revo. Tuning can also be tricky but with the help of YouTube you'll figure it out. Personally, the maintenance is apart of the hobby. I love working on the engine and making all of the fine adjustments. Many have said that they get 5-8 gallons out of a TRX 3.3 engine. Even more if you take good care of it and don't run too lean.

Aside from the engine maintenance there are dozens of other parts that can break if you beat on it enough. A-Arms are a common part that breaks after a good bashing and once this happens go with RPM A-Arms all around. Search the web and you'll see nothing but positive feedback on these parts.

Stay away from all that flashy aluminum. It's expensive and heavy. Though it may not break, it bends, and that's even worse. HOWEVER, some parts are worth replacing with aluminum. Bulkheads and shock towers are not a bad idea.

Follow this rule: Don't upgrade until it breaks!

This is amazing even though I only have the 2.5 motor this is an amazing truck the suspension blows me away the articulation is so cool. If you break this truck in right as you get it it will be incredible reaching speeds of almost 55 MPH. I would highly recommend this truck to anyone over 12 years old although the truck and gas is quite spendy along with parts and accessories it isn't to bad after you got everything back here is a list of comon things you'll need to buy for this:

Gas 20-40$(comes in 1 gallon containers.
Glow Plugs-$7 Each
lots of batteries-the normal price of double AA's
toolbox for you truck parts-30-50$
and extra tools-5-100$

Fantastic RC truck!

Before I purchased the Revo, I had a Traxxas T-Max and tore it to pieces several times having fun with it. You name a piece on the T-Max and I've replaced it at least twice. Racing, jumping, bashing, the T-Max did it all.

The Revos came out and I didn't waste any time buying one. Full disclosure, the one I purchased (several years ago) didn't have the new TQ transmitter (no crystals needed!), or the upgraded 3.3 engine (mine had the 2.5), but for the most part, it's the same truck being sold here. The Revo is many times better than the T-Max. It sits lower and wider, it doesn't have the vulnerable bulkheads (the parts in the front and rear where the shocks, steering, and diff components are held) like the T-Max, F1 inspired horizontal shocks....everything about this truck is better. OK, it sounds like I'm bashing my T-Max and that's not the point of this review.

For those of you already into RC trucks, you know what you're getting into. For those of you brand new to all this fun, this is an RTR (Ready To Run) kit which means you don't have to put anything together. Right out of the box this kit has 95% of everything you need to starting terrorizing your neighborhood with the sounds of a 20,000 RPM nitro-fueled miniature monster truck. So what does it NOT contain? Nitro fuel and AA batteries for the transmitter (the remote control you hold in your hand). Fuel will cost 20ish bucks per gallon but a gallon will last you a long time.

OK, if this Revo isn't your first rodeo, then you know what to expect. If this is your first RC truck (and I mean first, you've never had anything like this before), you better like tinkering with things.

Have had this truck about a month now and almost put a full gallon through it (about 30 tanks). Overall the truck is great, follow the instructions Traxxas includes about break in and maintenance and you'll be set. If you search You Tube for "Traxxas Nitro Tuning Guide" there is a great video as well about break in, maintenance, and tuning. I will share some tid bits of information future buyers may find useful...

-Glow plug went bad immediately after break in (this is common and they give you an extra glow plug in the box)
-Had to rebind Optidrive to make reverse work out of the box (rebind instructions are included in the manual)
-Don't let receiver battery get too low! Charge it after every run. If the receiver battery gets too low the truck's optidrive system can glitch causing the truck to go into reverse while running the truck forward!
-Slipper clutch was way too loose out of the box (had to turn the adjustment screw a few times)
-Brake adjustment knob set too loose out of the box (thought I was just experiencing brake fad but just needed to turn the brake adjustment knob a few turns.
-Telemetry set to KMPH out of box, had to change to MPH through the Traxxas link settings.
-Truck needs air filter oil, needle nose pliers, 4 AA's, WD-40, small flat blade screw driver, and fuel to complete.
-Tighten wheel nuts before every run, they become loose very easily
-Ended up cutting half the front windshield out to allow cooler motor temps
-I broke the exhaust manifold and through research found this to be a very common problem. A solution is to buy the exhaust manifold from the Revo Platinum edition, part # TRA5340x and part # TRA5254. This manifold holds the manifold on with tension from a spring vs.
