You do have to maintain any RC car but I am amazed at how well made Traxxas products are.

I was looking for an "all weather" RC car to use in the winter when I cannot use my Traxxas X0-1. The guy at the hobby store (Amotos in Middletown CT) said this car was basically a modified Traxxas Slash 4x4 (which I own too). It is lower than the Slash and a bit narrower. I mainly use it on pavement and it is much less "flip prone" than the Slash. I use it with a 11 volt 5000 mA battery and it is super fast and a blast to drift around corners. It is super durable and puts up with all kinds of abuse. The whole inside is covered with wet sand after I get through with it and I just clean it up and it is ready to go. You do have to maintain any RC car but I am amazed at how well made Traxxas products are.

You will not be disapointed.

I bought this car as a Christmas present for my son. This car has all of the upgraded Velineon Electronic Speed Control (ESC) and motor. If you have owned any other Traxxas products, the brushed motors just don't last very long and send you out to buy another one usually within 30-60 days if you use it regularly. The Velineon is a brushless system and is 100 times more durable than the brushed models and well worth the extra money. I have a Velineon setup in an E-Revo. After I went through 2 brushed motors in 60 days, it just didn't make sense to keep buying new motors, so I splurged and have no regrets. The Velineon setup takes all the abuse I can throw at it and hasn't failed me yet. The size of this car is HUGE. My other models are 1/16 scale and the 1/10 scale really is pretty big, but the car is so well balanced that if it were smaller, it wouldn't function as good as it does. The 1/16 scale rally car is set up for asphalt only, so beware. The 1/10 scale can go off road and jumps pretty good, but it is low slung, so big jumps can easily bottom this one out. My son likes to jump it off a plastic skateboard ramp and easily got this thing airborn 5-6 feet in the air because its so fast (it bottomed out jumping like this everytime). The controller is slightly upgraded from some of the base Traxxas models such as the Stampede Monster Truck with some extra settings. The car drifts awesome on asphalt and goes super fast out of the box. If you upgrade the battery to the Lipo stuff, it truly brings out the Velineon's capabilities, but the batteries are double the price from the NiMh batteries. With Lipo batteries, this model will do 60 mph. The car is very well built for the most part, but some of the parts that are most likely to fail, such as the steering knuckles, are made of plastic.Read more ›

This car is GREAT! I have been wanting one for quite a while and when it finally came it did not disappoint. The build quality is sturdy the vehicle has a perfect "heft" to it, and plenty of power. Being built of the Traxxas Slash 4x4 frame it has proven durability and performance. The price is a steal for the quality out of the box. The stock tires leave something to be desired on loose surfaces though so keep that in mind, unless you like drifty fun.

I could not recommend this car enough!

If you are on the fence about this or another one check some reviews online, youtube in particular, they helped me to pull the trigger on this car and I have not been happier with a RC. I used to race back in the late 90's, mostly running Losi rigs, I used primarily the XXX buggy and XX-T Truck both tried and true racers, and this thing is just all around a better ride, Traxxas earned a new customer for life.

Offroad it handles pretty good, but it's sandy, and light gravel performance is lacking with those stock tires, I suggest upgrading if you are going to want more than a good basher.

8/10 overall and a solid 5/5 for amazon.

My only gripe is tfor being a "prime" listed item it still took a week to get it, can't play with my anxiety like that Amazon. Jerks =)

This is a blast. I have the 1/10 Slash 4x4 as well. This is basically a modified Slash which isn't a bad thing I say. I use this specifically for pavement, grass, and packed dirt only. I use the Slash to get muddy and dirty because it has bigger tires and higher clearence. This car is lower centered so it is more fit for pavement. I think they compliment each other well.

What a bargain for the price. 375 is a great price, youre basically getting the same performance out of it as you would a Slash Ultimate which costs around 500 dollars. Sure you don't get sway bars and junk but its a great deal. The LCG chassis is amazing. I sold my old slash 2wd to my friend and we just drove them together. His was rolling over non-stop and mine didn't flip once all day long. Truly an amazing RC. Worth every penny. Id buy it again and again and again lol. A regular slash 4x4 cost more than this baby and it out performs it too. I don't understand the price difference because its basically a slash but Id snatch it up if its under 400 and youre reading this review. I was going to return it until I found out that the loose driveshaft was supposed to have play in it to protect it in the case of collisions. It also clicks and shutters at very very very low speeds but Traxxas support told me that was because it has their new ESC and Brushless Motor. The motor supposedly has a different kind of magnets in it. I ran it against the 2wd slash with the old system and it out ran it even given a head start. The vehicle is now my favorite RC in my collection and has reignited my enjoyment in this hobby.
