Thin Ice,

Levour `Tre Pound' King, a local thug, is on trial for the murder of a well-known drug dealer. While he awaits the verdict, he continues to wreak havoc on those he comes in contact with. Camille, Tre's 15-year-old cousin, hates the fact that it's hard keeping a boyfriend once they learn Tre is family. Is Tre guilty or not guilty of murder? Will Tre make it out alive on the mean streets of Kansas City, Missouri, or will he spend the rest of his life behind bars?
After reading the synopsis, I was very excited to read this selection. The book started off with a bang, but there were some parts of this book where my attention waned for a bit. I had questions about Tre and Camille's relationship. I know they were cousins but it seemed to be an underlying story between those two. Overall, Jordan Belcher's "Tre Pound" was an ok read for me, but I definitely wouldn't mind reading another selection from this author. Reviewed by: Orsayor

Has Potential.,

The alleged charge is the murder of a street celebrity. The question is, did he or didn't he? Watching him seated calmly by his lawyer's side, almost smug looking, some would say yes. But not visible to the eye is the anxiety that has taken over underneath his unruffled layers, and of course he knows the answer to that life changing question.
Levour King aka "Tre Pound" is still a free man as he awaits the verdict for his future. Being judged by the twelve Jurors is one thing, but everybody knows the streets will pass judgment with a shift deadly action...no questions asked! Tre needs to watch his back! Camille King is Tre's impressionable fifteen year old cousin who has a love/ hate relationship with Tre whose reputation scares off boys who want to date her. There are two boys who even after being humiliated are willing to take their chances, but at what cost? The story is pretty much centered on Tre and Camille's lives. Tre keeping up the King family's hard core reputation while watching his back and young Camille searches for love. Both Tre and Camille are strong characters with supporting roles by Dominique, J-Dub, and weakling 'Lil Pat. Definitely a slow start to this read. The characters are showcased as premium drug dealers or murderers but then fail to have enough action to prove this point. We were a part of the set up for Gutter's plan and I kept looking to be in on that action, but was left out only with an explanation in a line or two. Camille wasn't even a little traumatized by what happened before her very eyes!! Six shots...survival ok, but where was the touch and go at the hospital? Mr. Belcher could have pulled the reader in emotionally with more detail added to these scenes. Things really heated up with the Joy/Latrice situation ...love the outcome of that, which showed me the dangerous side of Tre, I wanted more of this cold calculating side of him! Great job with the Stacks/Marlon standoff! Tre likes to work solo but is the most dangerous kind of killer...the one that gets all up in your head; he finds your weakness and uses it to manipulate you to do to his dirty work. So I was back and forth with this read I really liked the character Tre (barring that stunt he pulled at the end, so not cool for a man like him.). But the story development could have been so much more if certain scenes were enhanced and brought to their full potential. Locksie ARC Book Club Inc.

I've read a lot of street fiction books and Tre Pound is the second best one I've ever read (Coldest Winter Ever is still #1 lol)! It keeps you reading from beginning to end and you never know what's gonna happen next. At first I thought the character Tre Pound was a good guy, but then it became clear that he was a dishonest, womanizing, backstabbing robber ... but you still root for him! He sleeps with his friend's sister and you don't want him to get caught ... He sets someone up to get killed and you hope he can get rid of the body ... it's crazy good! The ending has two unexpected twists that has me waiting for part 2. If ur looking for a urban lit book without a ton of editing mistakes, this is it!!!

This was an okay read! There were some things that transpired that made no sense and didn't really seem to flow with the story that was being told. But once you get passed the irrelevant things, the story that is being told is actually pretty good. It took me a few days to get into the story, but once I did, I didn't want to put the book down. It had its ups and downs, but overall was an okay read.

Whoever gave this book 5 stars was crazy. It must have been the author. To many stupid things happened that didn't make sense.
