The list author says: "Looking for a game that will let you stab your friends in the back then have a good laugh about it later? Would you like to lie, cheat, sabotage, and betray your buddies--just not in real life? Put on your thickest Kevlar vest, sit with your back to the wall, and pull out one of these."
"Great secret faction game. The loyal Resistance fighters try to destroy Imperial targets, while the spies who have infiltrated them try to thwart their plans. If you like Werewolf or Mafia, you'll love this--no moderator, no player elimination. Plays great with a smaller group, and anyone can learn it in 5 minutes. The game plays fast, and both sides will be ready for another one right away."
"Absolutely brutal game--and so much fun! Stay alive on the boat while protecting your secret love, killing your secret hate, and grabbing loot salvaged from the ship. Rowing causes thirst, and costs opportunities to get loot or a better seat. But if you don't row, you may end up overboard, and if nobody rows, then everyone will die. Easy to learn, and plays 6 (8 with expansions) in an hour."
"Get your people to the safest place in the mall, while the zombies just keep multiplying. If there are too many zombies to keep out, then it's time to vote on who to toss out to them! You won't last long without making some enemies, and you won't win without making pretty much everyone at the table hate you--but that's the fun of it. Very nice materials help to make this one extra cool."
"Play an indolent, wealthy noble, with a few jobs for a few lucky scholars. Trouble is, you've got scholars of your own to take care of, too, and jobs are scarce--it'll take some bribing. Unlike an auction game, in Intrigue it is acceptable--even encouraged--to accept giant bribes from everyone, only to give the job to the low bidder. The rest? They get shipped out to the Isle of Misfit Scholars."
"A little too chaotic to be called a strategy game, but still a great time. Watch in dismay as your sailors are displaced one by one by leaks in the flimsy boats they're trying to get to shore. But it's all based on voting--good lobbying skills are essential to pulling out a victory."
