5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
While pro-athletes may not benefit from this book, it is at exactly the right level for me. I bought a treadmill and an elliptical recently and wanted to get some ideas for how to use both to my best advantage. This books confirms some of my ideas (alternating high-impact with low-impact, having the TV lined up to take my mind off the torture) and gave me a lot more...

1.0 out of 5 stars save your money
This book is not for someone who is looking for NEW workouts. The title makes it sound like the book is filled with9 weeks of different workouts to keep you from getting bored. The workouts are basically the same from week one to week 9, they just get longer as you go. I workout cardio wise 7 days a week, so I consider myself an "expert" in cardio, so trust me, save...

I workout cardio wise 7 days a week, so I consider myself an "expert" in cardio, so trust me, save your money. Now if you are just starting tehn sure give it a try, but if you are a novice, forget it.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book is light on content, May 12, 2007

This book is light on content and the layout is very amateurish. I was extremely disappointed that it did not cover working out in any type of depth. It is a mile wide and an inch deep. Thorough disappointment...

I would have expected it to be an actual program and maybe go into the differences between a treadmill and an eliptical trainer...

The title intrigued me - but the book was no better than picking up a magazine and picking a program out of them.

This book is so basic. It is obviously written for someone who has never used either piece of equipment. Frankly I was very disappointed. Save your money!

2.0 out of 5 stars Reads like a Grocery Store magazine, June 26, 2007

This book reads like a magazine at the front line of the grocery store. It's pretty much all fluff and no substance. I was disappointed because the material in 75% of this book can be found in any general fitness book. Only a few chapters are devoted to actual treadmill and elliptical work out routines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, February 11, 2008

While pro-athletes may not benefit from this book, it is at exactly the right level for me. I bought a treadmill and an elliptical recently and wanted to get some ideas for how to use both to my best advantage. This books confirms some of my ideas (alternating high-impact with low-impact, having the TV lined up to take my mind off the torture) and gave me a lot more ideas with a good round up of the basics. I am a male in my mid-40s and I think men and women in my age group that are not overly enthusiastic about braving the elements and want a way to multitask while exercising (e.g., watch the news and work out), because they have young children to look after, for instance, might greatly benefit by looking at this resource. Some may say it is all very simple but that is the beauty of it --somebody with experience has processed useful information and his good ideas here for our benefit. 60 minutes of exercise following these ideas this 4 to 5 days a week are already making a difference for me.
