5.0 out of 5 stars exceptionally good read March 10, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I saw the word “Anasazi” I knew this book was going on my reading list. As I read the story it was evident the author put time into researching as well as crafting a great story.

The characters were very well crafted and the story flowed well. There were things that occurred fairly early in the book that gave me good hints that this was going to be an exceptional read.

I learned a lot more about the Anasazi then I knew before and I found the information about the coyote people to be quite fascinating.

Our main character Jack kept the story flowing fast and also kept me highly engrossed. I liked his character as I felt he was trustworthy and was determined to do the right thing throughout the story.

Sarah Leaphorn caught my attention from the second that I met her in this story. When she confirms to Jack that yes, she was the girl who disappeared in the park ten years ago I had to re-read the paragraph.

I don’t do “spoilers” but I will say this book has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing throughout the story.

Exceptionally good and I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful Action packed novel! March 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was great! I couldn't put it down, you kept wondering what was going to happen next. I love Jack Trader, enjoyed his first adventure as well, Nestorian Alliance. I googled Anasazi and realized this book could have been nonfiction, excellent research by author!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Highly Recommend This Treasure March 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book intrigued me as it looked like it would be a good action and adventure read.

The story is set in the 1950s. Our main character Jack Trader reminded me of a combination between Indiana Jones and Clint Eastwood. All the characters were well crafted and interacted well with each other but Jack was definitely my favorite. I rooted for him throughout this story and he didn’t disappoint.

Along with a well created group of characters we have treasure hunters willing to poach and trespass to get to a treasure believed to be in the area. This alone kicked up the pace of the story but the author also added in a great twist by delving deep into Navajo culture and adding shapeshifters – the coyote people.

I won’t tell you if the treasure hunters found the coveted treasure but I will say, when the author revealed details about the treasure later in the book (no spoilers) it really added to the story.

This was a really good adventure read and Jack Trader was a character that resonated well with me.

More About the Author

The third novel in the Jack Trader Adventure series, WILDERNESS JUSTICE, is now available. As with the previous books, it is available in both ebook and paperback editions. It brings Vegas to southwest Colorado where the action moves from Durango into the mountainous wilderness north of town. Elements of the story include blackmail, kidnapping, and wilderness survival.

The 2nd in the series, TREASURE OF THE ANASAZI, is now available as an audio book. The story takes place at Mesa Verde, a place in SW Colorado near Durango where the Anasazi disappeared from their cliff-dwellings centuries ago. Jack, geologist and self-taught archaeologist, and Samantha, interim ranger, must stop treasure hunters from discovering the Anasazi village before the 'coyote people' take matters into their own hands.

My debut novel,THE NESTORIAN ALLIANCE, 1st in the series, takes the reader from Durango to the eastern mountainous region of Turkey in search of Noah's Ark. Stalin's henchmen are determined to get there first to destroy it. The Nestorian Brotherhood are prepared to protect the Ark at all cost.

I am a writer and self-employed geologist and surveyor, living with my wife in a rural setting near Clearwater, Kansas. The characters in the series reside in or near Durango, Colorado, one of my favorite destinations. Check out my website for photos of the area at adventurewithmike.com.
