A Highly Recommended Treasure!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Treasure Box: 1991-1999 (Dlx) (Audio CD)
Finally, fans of The Cranberries have the opportunity to obtain the COMPLETE CATALOG of this excellent band's earliest recordings. This four-disc set includes The Cranberries' first four albums (before 2001's "Wake Up and Smell the Coffee") in "complete sessions" form, including new packaging, and more importantly, 21 bonus tracks! On the debut album, EVERYBODY ELSE IS DOING IT, SO WHY CAN'T WE, bonus tracks are: "Reason," "Them," "What You Were," "Liar," "Pretty (Remix)," and "How (Remix)." All of these tracks are difficult to find anywhere else, as are most of the rest of the bonus tracks. The second disc, NO NEED TO ARGUE, treats us to the rarities of "Away," "I Don't Need," "Close to You (from the IF I WERE A CARPENTER tribute)," the very rare "So Cold in Ireland," and a remix of the hit, "Zombie." On TO THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED, bonus tracks are: "Cordell," "The Picture I View," "Ave Maria (with Pavarotti)," The amazing cover of "Go Your Own Way," from LEGACY, the Fleetwood Mac tribute, and the heart-pounding "God Be With You," from the soundtrack to the Harrison Ford/Brad Pitt movie, THE DEVIL'S OWN. Finally, BURY THE HATCHET provides us with the b-sides formerly available on BURY THE HATCHET: THE COMPLETE SESSIONS, but not included on the original North American recording. These are: "Baby Blues," "Sweetest Thing (not to be confused with the song by U2)," "Woman Without Pride," "Such a Shame," and "Paparazzi on Mopeds (in honor of the late Princess Diana)." Whether you're a new fan of The Cranberries or an old follower, this collection is a great opportunity to get EVERYTHING they've recorded, without having to buy all the tribute albums and soundtracks. Don't forget it includes all the hits, too, such as "Dreams," "Linger," "Salvation," "Ode to My Family," "Zombie," etc. This is a great way to hear a band grow!

Simply the best,

This review is from: Treasure Box: 1991-1999 (Dlx) (Audio CD)
I already had all of the Cranberries CD's before I bought this, but I still think that it was well worth my investment. There are a TON of songs and all of them are excellent. Like the title says, the Cranberries are simply the best band out there in my (if somewhat un-objective) opinion.

The Cranberries re-released their first four studio albums as a complete session boxed set called The Treasure Box. This album was released in North America on May 14th to coincide with the start of the 'Wake Up and Smell the Coffee' North American Tour. This collection includes Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Cant We? (1991-93), No Need to Argue (1994-95), To the Faithful Departed (1996-97) and finally Bury the Hatchet (1998-99).This collection is more than just the last 4 albums. This collection includes all the albums remastered along with a lot of rare and b-sides that were not available before. Each of CD includes 5 bonus tracks not released before along with some interesting remixes. If you're a fan of the band and love Dolores O'Riordan, you will want to get this collection. Do the extra 20 tracks make this package worth it? The answer for me was a resounding YES. I have the 4 original CD's, but I still bought the package as I love the band, but your mileage may vary. The band does plan on selling this collection of CD's individually later in the year and so you may want to wait for that, but if you are a fan and don't have any of their CD's - get this collections now Interesting to note on The Cranberries website - We must mention that as soon as the box set is released, it will no longer be possible to purchase any of the first four albums in their original formats, for the time being. The intention of the box set was mainly, to give Cranberries fans an opportunity to acquire the full catalog of Cranberries work to date, including some rarities and b-sides that could only be found on singles or other formats which are no longer available!

The Cranberries Treasure Box is amazing! The box design is cute and charming. Even if you are a fanberrie and own all the c.d.s already you still need this to complete your collection. Every c.d. is remade and includes extra tracks from when that particular c.d. came out so that means you will get every c.d. again but with extra (hard to find) tracks. There are 21 total extras in the whole set. And they are all great, My favorite extra track is "So Cold In Ireland" There is also I really neat song it is a preformance by:Doloras and Pavarotti called Ave Maria. This is one of the coolest things I spent my money on worth ever cent!

To put it mildly, this is the best music purchase I've ever made. The Cranberries are, in my opinion, the best band out there right now. I cannot get tired of listening to their music! Most good bands have three or so really good songs per CD. Well, EVERY song on these CD's is great. If you like The Cranberries as I do, you may also want to check out Dido's CD, "No Angel".

I am so happy with this new compilation! I've finally had the chance to obtain some of the Cranberries' rare songs, like "Reason," "Them," and "Liar," as well as some of my other favorites - "God Be With You," "Go Your Own Way," and "Close to You." I have been listening to The Cranberries for a long time, and I have to say that these "B-sides" are definitely some of their BEST material. I have no idea why this stuff wasn't included on the original albums. "God Be With You" is worth the price of the set alone. It has to be their most powerful work. The remix of "Pretty" is a nice surprise too, with beautiful church bells in the background. For those of you who already have all of The Cranberries' albums, go ahead and get this. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Great Collection (Even If You Already Own Most Of The Songs),
By "fanofthecran" (Kaysville, UT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Treasure Box: 1991-1999 (Dlx) (Audio CD)
At a time when the music played on the radio and TV seems to have become stale (the Cranberries addressed this idea in the song "Copycat"), it is great to have a release like this that shows how some bands are not afraid to evolve. This collection shows how the Cranberries have changed over time both musically and emotionally. Being a band that has always written with their emotions, the Cranberries take us through major life events in this collection. Those life events include, but are not limited to, the hardships of intimate relationships ("Everybody Else Is Doing I..." and "No Need to Argue"), dealing with the deaths of those you love ("To the Faithful Departed"), and the feelings of having your own family ("Bury the Hatchet"). While these undercurrent themes arguably run through each album, all four of the albums possess various other themes. Having already owned many of the b-sides, I questioned whether the collection would be right for me. However, the b-sides that I didn't own ("Reason," "Them," "Go Your Own Way," etc.) blew me away. I had already felt that some of the other b-sides ("Cordell," "God Be With You," "Away," "So Cold in Ireland," "Woman Without Pride") are some of the bands best songs and this collection just reaffirmed my belief in the band's talents. These b-sides in conjunction with four awesome albums makes this set a classic. Whether the songs are political ("Zombie," "Bosnia," "War Child"), thought provoking ("Fee Fi Fo," "Paparazzi on Mopeds") or many other themes, the songs maintain a sound that is uniquely the band's own. So if you are not a fan of the sound of the Cranberries, this collection is obviously not for you. However if you enjoy any of their songs, I think that there will be a great deal in this collection that you will find enjoyable. Even if you already own all four of the albums, I believe the b-sides are worth it.
