5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for!
This unbrella base is just as described, "Classic". It is heavy, handsome and goes perfectly with my cast aluminum table and chairs. I couldn't be happier! It arrived as scheduled and in perfect shape. I found umbrella bases from the same company in the local high end stores at much higher prices, and they didn't carry the look that I wanted.....too many curly cues...

2.0 out of 5 stars Must have skinny umbrella
What an incredible waste of time and effort. If you have anything over a 1-3/4" umbrella it will not fit. Then you will be transferred from person to person, spend lots of time on hold and you will still not have a resolution. This is an item you should just try to find locally. Or, you will be stuck with the shipping to return it. There is a wider pole for the base,...

This unbrella base is just as described, "Classic". It is heavy, handsome and goes perfectly with my cast aluminum table and chairs. I couldn't be happier! It arrived as scheduled and in perfect shape. I found umbrella bases from the same company in the local high end stores at much higher prices, and they didn't carry the look that I wanted.....too many curly cues! It also has an extra feature that I wasn't aware of when I ordered it. The post that holds the umbrella is in two pieces. You use the shorter of the two if you are using the base under a table and you can add the extension for more stablility if you are using it free standing. Both pieces fit under my table and I figured the more stability the better! You can also purchase an extra weight to create an 80 lb. base.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent base, May 31, 2011

After reading the other reviews I decided to order this base. It was better looking than the plastic versions to be filled with sand at my local home store. It arrived quickly and we used it this past weekend. It is strong enough to support our umbrella without a table which would otherwise provide stability. (We have a round, glass top table so we needed an alternative). We are really pleased with this base.

I was very pleased with the quality for the price. Will probably purchase another to replace an old one of a different style.

Or, you will be stuck with the shipping to return it. There is a wider pole for the base, but the effort it takes to get one (that doesn't even match) and the extra expense just isn't worth it!

Otherwise, I have to say, it is nice looking....for skinny umbrellas.

These stands are top quality. The high support that holds the pole is higher than usual giving exta strength and the weight keeps the umbrella grounded. The company also was quick with shipment.

I'll tell you what, if your umbrella blows away while in this stand then you're in a hurricane and you should have brought your umbrella inside, anyway.

Love the stand, it's very heavy-weight and well-made and I feel very confident that it's going to hold my umbrella securely. There is an extension included with the stand that allows one to use the stand with an umbrella as a free-standing unit (sans a table). We're using it with the Strathwood St. Thomas set we also purchased on Amazon along with the Ace Evert 9-foot umbrella (ASIN: B003AQBJGU).

A terrific combo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Patio umbrella base, August 7, 2011

The base effortly supports a 9' umbrella all by itself. Remember to fold down the umbrells when high winds are predicted; I doubt the base would break in high winds. People who buy plastic bases must not be aware of these low cost, high quality, esthetically pleasing cast iron bases.
You will regret buying only one of these. I bought four and plan to order more.

Works great and looks nice. It looses one star because the package was falling apart when arrived. One of the small feet nubs on the bottom had fallen off, but I was able to super glue it back on.
