Review

When I want to learn more about coins, I consult Carol Tedesco. For me as a student and teacher of archaeological oceanography, coins serve as indicators of lost ships, historic cultures as well as shifting sediments and ocean currents. This concise book has huge content including the mines, the mints, the assayers, conservation and preservation. --Clarice M. Yentsch, Ph.D.
Curator of Education for the Mel Fisher Maritime Historical Society and Museum from 2002 to 2007; Research Scientist & Adjunct Professor Oceanographic Center Nova Southeastern University Dania Beach, Florida

I m delighted to see this booklet on the 1622 coins excavated for many years from the Atocha and Margarita historic shipwrecks. Numismatists and general readers alike will delight in this well researched guide to an unparalleled archaeological collection recovered from the sea.

The book will also make you want to take a boat and start looking for your own treasure ship!

The small size of this book is deceptive because it's complete with information and images.

There is a lot out there about the Atocha, books & videos, but this book is simply great. The book has an easy to read feel to it. It is very clear and to the point. A lot of other books about salvage and treasure are long and it seems that the writers likes to hear themselves talk. This book is the exact opposite, Carol Tedesco takes a complicated subject and makes it fun. "Treasure Coins of the Nuestra Senora de Atocha and the Santa Margarita" is a great read because everyone can read it and enjoy it. Those who are just learning about the Atocha will love this book because it is straight forward. The book will also make you want to take a boat and start looking for your own treasure ship!

WoW! what a small "book". It's more of a pamphlet so there isn't a whole lot of information. Quit pricey.

Excellent book especially for someone not familiar with the background of these ships and their cargo. I enjoyed seeing all of the different coins that both of these ships hauled and lost. It's great that they were eventually found and can now be shared with the world.

Carol Tedescos worldwide experience & knowledge of all things in the sunken Treasure ships field/Archeology is unsurpassed. I can't wait for her new book coming out this year, 2012, and i'll be the first in line to get one. If you ever have ANY qiestions about Spanish coins related to Ancient Spain & the New World, Carol is the one to confide in. This is a very fascinating book, with great descriptions/pictures as well. Respectfully submitted, Charles E. Compron Sr.
