Great concept, find treasure in the real world!,

Wow, I bought this based on an early preview and was pleasantly surprised. Treasure World actually turns the outside world into a game, rewarding you for exploring new areas and locations in order to gain treasure for use within the game itself. I'll set the game to search mode, put it in my pocket, then go out for the day, gaining treasure along the way. Since I started playing I've been taking new routes to work, visiting different coffee shops and cafes, and really noticing the prevalence of wi-fi signals in my city. You can use your treasures to dress up your little character and decorate the playing area in game (which is then turned into a song!), but it's a shame there isn't more you can do with the treasures once you have them. I also wished that there were mini-games or something to play when not exploring, but that almost defeats the purpose of the game itself. Still, it's a collecting game without all the work, providing a relaxing play experience that extends outside of the game itself. A great concept, I'd love to see more games take risks and innovate like this one!

A game this innovative is a rarity. More of a toy along the lines of Nintendogs, Treasure World has a uniquely unassuming but addictive quality that grabs you. While obviously targeted for younger players who will no doubt be all over it, the game has a whimsical and casual appeal that will appeal to adults, as well. It's simply a lot of fun to be driving around with your DS closed up in standby and hear lots of chimes as it detects treasures from all the different wifi signals it encounters. (And you'd be amazed at just how many it does!) The supporting web site is also a great place to log, compare, and trade your treasures.
This game is in itself a hidden treasure. Get it!

I got this game to try to motivate my fears of going outside. to an extent it has because the game is requiring you to get out and explore. i like this game but i only end up playing like less than once a week. this game would be great if you go to school or travel... but for me... not so good. but its really a cool game

I personally did not like this game, perhaps if you like Sim like games this would be your choice. I found it a little boring and it didn't make much sense to me, not what I thought it would be.

Not much to do in game,

I just got this game yesterday because it was at game stop for a pretty low price right now. I saw this game when it first came out because there were some interesting reviews about it but from what I read it seemed like a collecting game and I couldn't justify spending 30+ dollars on something like that.
When I saw it at game stop for a low price I was like what the heck why not. It was already open (I got the last copy in the store and told them not to tape it up) and I put in my DS (I usually carry it in my purse) I watched the intro and read through some stuff (which takes little time) and started collecting stuff right then and there. From the drive from the store to my parents house (7 miles) and then the drive from my parents to home (23 miles) then the drive from home to dinner (21 miles) and the drive back from dinner to home (21 miles) I collected 800+ network locations and most of those were from inside the car on the freeway. My fiancé was driving while I was looking at the game, nothing much goes on expect it shows you the name of the network it found, it was fun to see names like peets coffee but it was even more fun to see what people choose to name their wireless networks... lots of Japanese words... (we also name our wireless network a Japanese word ^_^). You could also close the DS and still hear it collecting, it makes very different sounds for when it finds a new network and it makes other noises that aren't really that important like there is a noise for when it creates an item for the new network or when it finds a network you already have. I had it on the way to work and collected another 200+ networks; I'm planning to take a walk around my apartment complex to try to pick up more networks. This game is fun in the sense it sort of forces you to explore the real world, it's good for people that need to get out of the house. There isn't really much to do outside of trying to find as much wireless networks as you can though. Sometimes instead of getting items you get star dust that you can use to buy more things but again that runs out pretty quickly and you need to explore some more. I'm lucky that I happen to live in a dense populated area. I don't think this game would be fun for people that live in small towns because to get ahead in this game is to find lots and lots of wireless networks. I sort wished there were mini games like another reviewer suggested to earn more stardust (stardust is kind of hard to get out of the 1000 networks I found I only earned 600 stardust and there is a lot of things to buy). This game is definitely something you want to bring with you everywhere but outside of that, there is nothing much to do with it. I'm a collector at heart, so it's a very fun game for me to try to collect wireless networks and items. Also look at them, they also have this feature where you can complete certain collections and that's a lot of fun to me. If you don't like collecting things, this isn't a game for you. Oh yeah there is an online aspect to this game where you can go online and meet people that enjoy this game also and you can go on quests to match your area to look like one on the web and you earn some quest points (bragging rights). It seems to be full of a lot of people. I didn't spend much time on it but it looks promising.

I bought two of these for my 8 and 10 year old in a bargain bin, prior to a road trip. I was afraid they might get bored just collecting, but now 4 months later, this is still the game they grab when we are driving anywhere. My daughter especially enjoys playing with the treasure she collects. Just like another post said, the kids now are more willing to go with me on errands, in order to play this game.

Rarely write reviews - but I have to say as a mom - I LOVE this game! I have no idea how it works,..how to play it, or what it does,..but I do know it keeps my kids busy for hours at a time! And that makes me happy! Never before have my kids wanted to travel in the car,..but now they ask to go on trips just so they can find more treasures. My boys are 5 and 9 years old and this was such a big hit I had to purchase a 2nd copy of the game to reduce the fighting over it. My 9 yr old is moderately autistic and really enjoys playing not only the game, but participating in the free online club treasure world as well. Highly recommend!

I bring my ds everywhere with me so I get slot of the hot spots that I need for new things. I lover this game complex but simple at the same time. Have to use your computer with it to play properly. Fun, fun, fun game.
