This review is from: Treasured misfortunes (Mass Market Paperback)
I read Treasured Misfortunes, with all honesty i just fell in love with every line.I became in touch with the real meaning of life.I became very attached to its words,i read it time after time, and when we had our book club meeting i was overjoyed to read the poems, and try to explain them to the best of my understanding of what they mean.I met with the poet Sammer Ghouleh, she is the best speaker i ever heard speak, she is the best poet i ever met.I was so impressed with her and how she so beautifully expresses her emotions of love.I honor Sammer for her dedication and respect her wisdom. The poem "CHILDREN" means all the issues we need to realize,in order to make this world a better place.Sammer please write as much as you can,we all need a person like you that can help us rise from the darkness into the light.I am waiting to read more books by you...

5.0 out of 5 stars Joyful sorrow, December 25, 2002

This review is from: Treasured misfortunes (Mass Market Paperback)
After reading Treasured Misfortunes, you will cry and cry again, but when you close the book, you'll close it with a smile. I shed tears and smiled at the hope and admiration of a woman who didn't give up when God tested her. When her daughter was born with Spina Bifida, she dealt with the situation as a "Treasured Misfortune." Through her poems, she gives us a peek of the grief and worry only a mother with a sick child can feel. Although we feel her pain in her writing, we also get a sense at the joy and blessing Sammer feels for her treasured child. You can almost feel what Sammer felt as you step into her life in this book. With strong faith, Sammer will continue to inspire those of us with children(with misfortunes of illness or not.) All parents and almost all non-parents can relate to this wonderful piece of life's lessons of love, hope, sorrow, and strong faith.

This is a touching and warm book that reaches deep within the heart and soul. Sammer should be recognied for the selfless work she has done for the cause of Spina-Bifida. Excellent reading!
