The Cairo Museum is confusing even for experts. Many items are unlabelled, and there is such an overwhelming quantity of artifacts - large, small, humble, luxurious - that seeing eveything is impossible. This book will help you locate some of the best the Museum has to offer, in every category and from every era of ancient Egyptian history. In fact, finding some of these treasures - especially the samller ones - would be almost impossible without it! While it IS a lot of fun to just wander and see what you can discover on your own, if there are certain specific objects you want to find or make sure you don't miss, keep this book at your side at all times during your visit! It's certainly coming back with me on MY next trip!

I'm preparing for a trip to Egypt and this book is a wonderful addition to my library. It has been the best means of sensitizing myself to the beauty of Egyptian art short of a museum trip.
It's very heavy and I won't be taking it with me! But I already know that room 32 is a must see. The book provides enough historical context that I am able to appreciate the beautiful pictures within the context of my expanding knowledge of ancient Egyptian history. I really recommend this book.
