Monteverdi with bite!,
By Esther Criscuola (Oberlin, Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Treasures of Baroque Opera / Sutherland, Horne, Baker (Audio CD)
Orfeo is one of my favorite operas, and this is a wonderfully imaginative and fun interpretation to listen to--very much in the spirit of this opera, which is itself wonderful and fun. I always enjoy hearing the New London Consort's instrumentation--you never know what combnation of neat early instruments they're going to use, but it always works! (Listen to the Moresca at the very end of the opera & you'll know what I mean.)
