This review is from: Treasures of Disney Animation Art (Hardcover)
As an animator and one of the biggest Disney fans out there, this big has everything you want to know and need to know about how the Disney animation process is done. This book along with the Art of Disney and The Illusion of Life are a great combo together.

A book to be treasured for a lifetime,

This is a huge book. It's not the kind of book that you can read in bed at night. As mentioned in the preface, the size chosen matched as closely as possible the dimensions used by Disney animators. The paper is thick and the printing is gorgeous. I love seeing all of the sketches, final art and design decisions of some of my favorite animations. This book was printed and published to last a lifetime. I'd have to say this is my favorite Canemaker title, not for his text (which is minimal), but for the almost 300 large pages of artwork. A keeper.

Treasure is an understatement,
This review is from: Treasures of Disney Animation Art (Hardcover)
One of the most important and striking books ever published on animation, especially Disney animation. It has over 500 full color photos, most of them large, all in color, and a large number of them are full page. Better yet they are in chronological order, and list the artist who worked on each drawing, many Disney books do not identify specific artists like this one does.It has full color photos of animation cells. This is also the biggest book I have seen on animation, it is a HUGE coffee table folio, that is 12"tall x 15 1/4 " wide and a bit over 1 inch thick. At 320 pages, it weighs about 6 pounds!!! Really well researched, an important part of my own Disney reference library. Straight from the vaults of Walt Disney studios are tons of background art, storyboards, concept art, cell setups, animation cleanups, roughs, layouts, and designs. I cannot say enough about this book. You really get a sense of the animation process. This is the way it was done before there was help from computers. Preface by Robert Adams, Introduction by John Canemaker. This is the original First Edition of the book published by Artabras, a division of Abbeville Publishing, it was edited down some and reprinted by 10 years later. But this is the version to buy. It originally was published at $85 new, but sells for between $145 to $350 at collector shows if there is a copy in good condition. This would make a great gift for any classic Walt Disney animation fan, or someone interested in animation.
