Word-for-word translation can be a laugh,
By A Customer
This review is from: Treasury of Czech Love Poems, Quotations & Proverbs (Hardcover)
This book is undoubtedly a well-meant effort in a field that receives hardly any attention in the United States. Unfortunately, most of the poems/sayings/proverbs are translated word-for-word, with little or no effort spent on rhyme, rhythm, or even grammar. The result is often unintentionally comical.

By A Customer
This review is from: Treasury of Czech Love Poems, Quotations & Proverbs (Hardcover)
I found this book to be an good way to study Czech. The side by side translations allow you to learn and understand poems in Czech. It is an inspiring and romanitic introduction to Czech poetry!
