About the Author

After moving from Germany to New York in 1992, Oliver Gaspirtz worked as art director for a weekly newspaper in Manhattan, and later as production manager for a newspaper in Brooklyn. His first book, The Truth About Cinderella, was published in December of 1993. He has been working as a freelance cartoonist ever since.

Gaspirtz award-winning cartoons have appeared in many newspapers and magazines, including Single-Parent Family, Teacher in Focus, The Medical Post, Hippocrates, Physician, Nutrition & Health Review, Woman's World, Sun, National Enquirer, American Police Beat, Police, The Police Officers Journal, The Police Shield, Australian Police Journal, The National Times, The Brooklyn Baron, American Legion, Funny Times, Punch (England), Eulenspiegel (Germany), as well as in King Features Syndicate's daily panel The New Breed, a showcase of the best new humorists.

In Europe his cartoons are being distributed by Deike Press, one of Germany's largest press services, aswell as by PR Service Scherlinzky.

Gaspirtz's cartoons can be found in over 20 German, British and American books, including 2 books of the best-selling Chickensoup for the Soul series.

His work has been on display in over 20 major cartoon exhibitions around the world, including exhibitions in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Lithuania, Iran, Japan, and The United States. The International Museum of Cartoon Art in Boca Raton, The Okhotsk Museum of Cartoon Art in Japan, The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, The Ludwig Forum (Museum of Modern Art) in Aachen, Germany, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran, Iran, are just a few of the many museums that added his work to their collection.

Gaspirtz is a member of the National Cartoonists Society and the National Writers Union & Cartoonists Association. And he is the New York representative for the Australian Cartoonists' Group.

What a great book! Some of the best pet jokes I've ever heard (read). But my favorite were the funny photos of cats and dogs, and the true stories. I especially liked the story about Hasso. How adorable!
