Distinctive Stories,
This review is from: A Treasury of Stories for Four Year Olds (Paperback)
My daughter received Stories for 4-year-olds for her birthday from a family friend, who fortunately continued with the other books in the series for the next several years. This book contains stories to excite the imagination...stories you've probably never read before by a variety of authors. My daughter especially enjoyed The Paper Palace, and made me read it to her night after night for months. Now she's 7, and reading the stories on her own (we taped over the Stories for 4-year-olds on the front!). I'm pleased to know that the Treasury of Stories for 8 year olds is still ahead!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Treasury of Stories for Four Year Olds (Paperback)
I did buy this product 'used' however, the description of it was that it was in perfect condition and almost like new. When I received the book, it had writing in it, the cover was bent and the colors were even faded out. The pages were bent was well. The book looked obviously old. I understand that I did purchase a used item; however, the seller falsified the description.

Not Age Appropriate,
By Elle M. "Literary Mom" (Marin County, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Treasury of Stories for Four Year Olds (Paperback)
There are some good stories in this collection, but I agree with the other reviewer who found it too dark and gruesome. We picked this up for next to nothing at a thrift store so I didn't look at it too carefully initially, but when I finally thumbed through all the pages, it was clear from the illustrations alone that the theme tended toward weird creatures. What was even more disturbing was that there wasn't always a moral to correct the bad behavior, as in the story of the pet bear who ate an entire family. It was just morbid, albeit in a silly kind of way.
