A Slow Start to the Series,
By Debra Wilson (Lancaster, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Treasury of Victorian Murder (Treasury of Victorian Murder (Graphic Novels)) (v. 1) (Paperback)
This is the first book in Geary's Victorian Murder series, and while its kind of a fun little read, its just not long enough nor does it have enough detail. The first two stories are not fleshed out enough, and while the third is much better, it still falls way short of his later installments into the series.
If you want to finish out your collection and can find it on sale, pick it up, but don;t expect a lot. His other books are much better then this one.

Great Story and great illustrations. Can't wait to read more. I think the illustrations bring the story to life and make the story so much more rich than just reading it in written word.

I think this is the first in the series. There is an intro to Victorian times and figures, followed by three stories
The Ryan siblings story is over before it begins, and has no more complex story arc than "two siblings were horribly killed and noone knows why or who did it." I wish there was two more pages of intrigue. I have forgottne the 2nd one which I read just a week ago. The third story and last of them is more gruesome than the others. |
