3.0 out of 5 stars Texas style blues a la Johnny Winter
Eric sardinas comes close to his main influence and does a good job of mimivking Johnny Winter. Not much else can be said here.

5.0 out of 5 stars some of the best damned blues i ever heard, December 20, 1999
This review is from: Treat Me Right (Audio CD)
I saw this guy in concert and let me tell you he blew me away. It takes something special to make people walk out of a steve vai concert talking about the opening act, and eric sardinas has it. His hard edged guitar and soulful voice are stevie-ray-vaughan-esque. The effects that he uses and hand speed coupled with his use of slide guitar technique give even the most tired blues riffs new life and a new face. What is perhaps most refreshing about eric sardinas, however, is that unlike most "technical" guitarists, i could listen to him play all day without tiring of it. This is a must buy for any guitar player or blues fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eric Sardinas - Must be heard to believe, November 30, 1999
This review is from: Treat Me Right (Audio CD)
I met Eric at The Guitar Center in Falls Church, VA on Nov. 24, 1999. He and his band played for about a half hour then signed autographs and talked. I picked up his CD. I had to after hearing him play. He was unbelievable. That electric dobro screamed with his combo of brass slide and fingfr picking. Words cannot do justice to what this kid can do. Buy this Cd and play it loud!

If you like Johny Winter you will love this one. Roadhouse rocking blues the way it is supposed to be. Very Strong.

5.0 out of 5 stars smokin' hot gritty blues at it's best1, February 5, 1999

This review is from: Treat Me Right (Audio CD)
I have just finished listening to "Treat Me Right" by Eric Sardinas and it is some of the hottest blues you will ever hear!Scorching hot slide licks on an electrified dobro give this CD a new twist to the modern blues while staying true to classic blues roots.Johnny Winter makes a guest appearance on the CD as Eric takes Winter's style of blues to the next level. Sardinas's live performances are even more intense and he is rapidly becoming one of the most dynamic live showmen out there. He's backed by the slappin', thumpin' bass of Paul Loranger and the solid beat of Scott Palicios. If you love electric blues, check this new release out Feb. 23rd.Not recomended for wimps...

4.0 out of 5 stars ***1/2. Not highly original, but pretty entertaining, November 15, 2003
This review is from: Treat Me Right (Audio CD)
Eric Sardinas is a very acomplished guitar player, and he lays down some blistering electric dobro solos on "Treat Me Right", his debut album.

Alternating between fiery, up-tempo blues-rock, mid-tempo blues a la Johnny Winter, and a few acoustic numbers, Sardinas demonstrates considerable chops, but not a lot of imagination, and there is nothing here that Winter hasn't done before, or that Stevie Ray Vaughan didn't do better.

That's not to say that "Treat Me Right" isn't worth a listen, though. Eric Sardinas is a good, if not extraordinary, singer, and he imbues his acoustic slide workouts "Goin' To The River", "Sweetwater Blues" and "Cherry Bomb" with loads of soul, as well as displaying excellent abilities as a slide guitarist in the vein of Son House, Muddy Waters and Fred McDowell.

He also does quite well by Muddy Waters' "I Can't Be Satisfied", and while his hamfisted pedal-to-the-metal-approach may draw comparisons with George Thorogood, Sardinas is a more accomplished and versatile guitar player, as demonstrated on his powerful rendition of Doctor Clayton's classic "Murdering Blues" (AKA "Cheating And Lying Blues"), and on the tough original "Give Me Love" and several other tracks.

Howlin' Wolf's magnificent lead guitarist, the ageing Hubert Sumlin, guests on a reading of "Down In The Bottom", and gets buried under Sardinas' amp-on-11 bombast, which is a shame.
Johnny Winter gets more of a say on his own "Tired Of Tryin'", but all in all, "Treat Me Right" would have benefitted from a little less wah-wah and a little more subtlety.

It's still good fun, though, particularly for fans of hard-rocking contemporary blues, but the three acoustic numbers are very enjoyable as well, in a "Bukka White meets Johnny Winter" kind of way.
Less sophisticated than Stevie Ray Vaughan but more so than George Thorogood, and good enough for some 3 1/2 stars.

I saw Eric play with Steve Vai in Manchester, UK. The album is good but works best as a reminder of the live experience. This guy is phenomenal live. Dobros and slides have never been thrashed like this. Good Album, excellent with live experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Get Enough of Eric Sardinas, June 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Treat Me Right (Audio CD)
I never considered myself a blues fan until I witnessed a performance by Eric Sardinas. I see Eric, Paul and Scott perform regularly and the energy they put into the music is absolutely phenomenal -- I'm completely addicted. The CD doesn't quite match the live show (there's no way it possibly could!), but it's still awesome! Those of us who have been spoiled in Southern California are going to be hating life when these guys get big and stop playing the small clubs -- and I seriously believe they will be HUGE!

5.0 out of 5 stars refreshing blues, May 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Treat Me Right (Audio CD)
Sardinas is an amazing guitarist. The rhythm section is tight. drummer Palacios though not exhiting provides a great backbone. bassist Loranger seems to cover the bottom with both upright and electric. The whole band is exhiting to see live. They are local heros in So Cal. The CD comes close to capturing thier live sound. Sardinas' voice is a bit weak at times and the content of the words of his own material is not very deep. His guitar work is lightening fast, but as in his live performances, he tends to overdo it. If he'd just relax abit and let the music breathe, his guitar work would be more impressive. As other reviewers noted there's a J. Winter influence (right down to the hat), but I find that refreshing compared to the rash of SRV clones currently out. Sardinas has shown his Texas roots here (I hear he's from Plano Texas).

5.0 out of 5 stars Too hot to handle, April 19, 1999

From the first blistering track to the last this CD scorches thru 60+ minutes of brilliant slide guitar, dobro and National steel bodied guitar playing. Its good there's so much metal around as his fingers and the slide must set any wood alight. His Delta blues influences show throughout the CD giving us some of the best blues/rock guitar I've heard for a long time.Johnny Lang, Kenny Wayne Sheperd, Whoever else may be this months'No1 guitar hero, you've just been permanently knocked off the top spot. Johnny Winter, obviously a big influence plays on the last track and Hubert Sumlin on one other. Most of the other tracks are the usual bass/drum backing{both excellent}.half the tracks are self written and compare well with the covers. One of the albums of the year. Haven't heard much better since "Progressive Blues Experiment"/J Winter (1969) which turned me onto the Blues in the fist place. Did I say this CD is very good.BUY BUY BUY NOW
