Book Description

0415105420 978-0415105422 April 12, 1994
The early pioneers who spoke out about child abuse were disbelieved, but today its prevalence is culturally understood and professional help is readily available. In this more open context, both children and adults are disclosing extremely painful experiences of abuse carried out within organised settings. Yet again the response is disbelief and denial. In Treating Survivors of Satanist Abuse, professionals working with these problems join together to look at the predicament of all those involved.

Editorial Reviews

Review

`... a great deal of helpful and directly useful information: what to do and who to turn to if we think we may be faced with these issues. This book is not fun, but it is admirable and necessary. - British Journal of Psychotherapy

`... an enormously courageous book ... many excellent contributions. - Times Educational Supplement

`It is almost as if 38 windows have opened up and shed light on a very dark subject ... Every child protection worker should read this book ... - Community Care

5.0 out of 5 stars An important book on ritual abuse, November 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Treating Survivors of Satanist Abuse (Hardcover)
Valerie Sinasom is an english psychoanalyst who has worked with victims of ritual abuse. In this important anthology, she and the other authors have collected a lot of information about (satanist) ritual abuse. Most of the authors are psychologists and write from a psychological point of view, but there are other viewpoints as well. One of the best chapter's is probably journalist Tim Tates "Press, politics and paedophilia". He shows that the media instead of giving a balanced coverage all too often are engaging in one-sided campaigns against so called false accusations and avoid discussing evidence against those accused of ritual abuse. Treating Survivors of Satanist Abuse has many case histories and can be recommeded for everyone who want to know more about the terrifying subject.
