3.0 out of 5 stars Insight into Torture, April 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Treating Victims of Torture and Violence: Theoretical Cross-Cultural, and Clinical Implications (Hardcover)
This book was the first book on torture I have read but I was a bit disappointed because it didn't go into all the areas I was interested in. It was very good in the way it compared the symptoms of torture victims with victims of trauma and other psychotically disturbed people, emphasizing the similarities and differences. There are interesting sections on post traumatic stress disorder and cross-cultural differences in dealing with torture survivors. But what I thought it was missing was case histories of survivors , the particular type of torture they had to deal with and what treatment would be used to help them.
