5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding and classifying the Livingness of Matter, January 5, 2000
This review is from: Treatise on Cosmic Fire (Hardcover)
This truly extraordinary book (abbreviated TCF) contains information at several levels. If you read and understand this book you will know and understand the Secret of Life. Matter is energy, as we know from E=mc(squared) but this book talks of all energy and matter as Life! This Life evolves at the atomic level, human level, planetary level, etc.
TCF has succeeded in describing and classifying many types of life inherent to matter/energy. It talks of the sumtotal of Life on the Physical Plane, the Astral Plane, the Mental Plane. Everything ever written about auras in Theosophical or New Age texts can be understood at depth in TCF. It talks about the chakras; not just the human ones, but those of animal/vegetable/mineral, and of the larger Lives such as for a Planetary Being (Logos).
The reader will soon see that TCF is an ambitious book; its words painting the inner bodies of humanity and a description of the Egoic Lotus or the vehicle of the human soul which "sends down" incarnations.
The remarkable thing about TCF is its coherence as a workable theory. Properly understood, it generalizes just about every New Age and Religious belief system, without being sectarian in any way. It accepts the sanctity of the Buddha, the Christ and other World Teachers. If you understand the "14 Rules of White Magic" from TCF you will have no need for Wicca as all of what it represents is subsumed in the knowledge of various devas and elementals. The "14 Rules" were themselves expanded into AAB's book "A Treatise on White Magic", which is written at a more superficial level than TCF.
My first reflective/meditative reading of TCF took me six months of daily 1 to 3 hour sessions in 1986. Even today, I count this time spent in real terms as an asset more valuable than my joy for knowledge which led me to obtain a PhD in mathematics.
My physical lifespan is of course limited. However, the insight I've gained from this book will serve me long after this incarnation is at an end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, July 24, 2002

This review is from: Treatise on Cosmic Fire (Hardcover)
Deep, profound, complicated and eventually simple, like all truths....I have had this book for several years, I have read parts of many times and I am just about to delve into it yet again. A book to read and digest slowly. The information is so profound it takes time to assimilate and a certain level of previous understanding of metaphysical concepts to grasp at all. Not for the beginner on the path, just as a doctorate level physics text is not enjoyable for someone in secondary school. It takes some patience and dedication but is very much worth the effort. Profound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucidity for the Soul, April 9, 2001
By
Martin O'Connell (Somerville, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Treatise on Cosmic Fire (Hardcover)
In my opinion this book was written for the training of the Soul and not the personality. It has been my opinion that this is a book written in a harmonic that resonates in understanding at a level above the concrete mind and should be read through even if not completely understood at the moment of reading.

I have had others verbally express the same opinion as above to me without my input. In my opinion this is a book that will keep coming back at you for a very long time.

Of the hundreds of books of similar orientation that I have read, I consider this one book to be the most Lucid! Of the approximately 1300 pages, the first 6 to 7 hundred addressing the creation of reality through mind, may change the way you participate with life!

As Buckeroo Banzai said, " No matter where you go, there you are!"

Also worth reading (though not at the level of the above, but still superb!) I. K. Taimni (Science of Occultism, and his other books) Torkom Saraydarian (Especially his Science of Meditation, and Science)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, December 13, 1999
By
One of a handfull of the most significant writings of the twentieth century. The content is extremely deep and cannot be comprehended in one reading, nor in one lifetime. However, it contains many of the true secrets of the universe, but only for those who are truly prepared to understand. Along with the Secret Doctrine and Isis Unveiled by H.P. Blavatsky and Esoteric Astrology, The Dictionary of Astrology for the 21st Century, and the Jewel in the Lotus by Douglas M. Baker, the handful is nearly complete.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, November 26, 2005
"Deep, profound, complicated and eventually simple, like all truths....", someone said.

Forget it! The views offered by D.K. and A.B. are awesome.

They offer depths within depths, within depths.

No simplicity here! Headache guaranteed.

No person can ever hope to fully understand.

If you are into New Age, please skip this book.

But if this is the quality Mrs. Bailey and D.K. offer, their books will find their way to my bookshelf!

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for a lifetime, and more, November 16, 2009
This review is from: Treatise on Cosmic Fire (Hardcover)
Wow, how can one put into a short review an adequate summary of a book like this? This is one of my favorite books of all time, along with Esoteric Astrology, and The Light of the Soul. It's obvious that whoever is the ultimate source of the material in this book is an incredibly conscious human being. It is said in the preface that Ms. Bailey was in telepathic contact with a "Tibetan" teacher, and I have no doubt that is the case, since the material is of such quality, and so advanced, that it cannot be from any average researcher.

I began reading the Alice Bailey books in my early 20's, and I've read most of them all the way through, some of them several times. The value of a human life is in the opportunity to expand our awareness and truly enjoy our existence. To do that we need understanding, of who we really are, and what our place is in the big scheme of things. Truly great books help us do that, and this one will keep you busy for a very long time. You will come back to it later in life, too. The writing is exceptionally articulate, and almost every sentence contains several layers of meaning.

To get the most from this book you need to take breaks from reading in order to assimilate the material, even dream. To benefit from this book you will need to lay aside some preconceptions and the desire to get quick answers to all life's questions. It will also help a lot if you do a regular meditation in your life. I have practiced a simple meditation for a long time that has helped me tremendously over the years, allowing me to grasp much of the content in this book, at least on some levels. Take in what is said as a theory, an hypothesis, and let your experience and intuition validate the contents over time. I am still learning a lot from this book and I've owned a copy for at least 32 years.

If you are new to deep esoteric teachings, you may want to read some of the other, shorter books in the series, or other books on Theosophy, metaphysics, and so on. In summary, a great book, inspiring, enlightening, humbling, a real treasure. A book for serious students, not for people with small minds who are unable to concentrate. The material in this book will help you understand the deepest part of human psychology, that which comes from our soul, our need to connect with the cosmos from which we came, and to which we will go.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of a handful of the greatest books of all time., January 7, 2010
This review is from: Treatise on Cosmic Fire (Hardcover)
I first began reading TCF in the late 80's. It was the source material for a study group that lasted for years and as a result became the foundation of my esoteric awareness. I have memorized parts of it, referred to it countless times and yet have barely scratched the surface of this most extraordinary "treatise." Were a song to be used as an analogy for a typically informative book, this would be Bach's entire cycle of fugues. In this student's opinion, only other writings by DK (via Alice Bailey), as well as the major works of Helena Blavatsky come close to the depth of esoteric understanding made possible by a serious study of TCF. This treatise stands as a unique and supreme achievement.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pathway into Humanity's Future, September 4, 2011
Given the other good reviews of TCF, I see no need to write at length. I've read this volume in its entirety 3 times and most of it a 4th time, with plans to read it again in the near future. This is not a book for light reading but one which demands profound thinking.

It has been reported that a copy of A Treatise on Cosmic Fire was on Albert Einstein's desk at the time of his death, but there has been no idication to my knowledge that he ever read it. I've made several attempts to get cutting edge physicists to read it, but so far no success. Given the advanced thinking of physicists such as Paul LaViolette and a few others I could name, if such scientists were to seriously study TCF it might lead to a more rapid rapprochement between sience (or at least physics) and the ageless Wisdom Teachings.

This work is profound throughout, but the sections dealing with the nature of mind and power of thought is one humanity needs desperately to learn today -- ENERGY FOLLOWS THOUGHT and THOUGHTS ARE THINGS and LIKE THOUGHTS ATTRACT EACH OTHER. One of my favorite quotes is from Oscar Wilde, "To think a thing is to cause it to begin to be." And Annie Besant, "Whatever is thought, is." Once this fundamental truth is grasped and understood, each of us has the power to create his/her life (outer and inner/spiritual)as he/she chooses. Thought is the key to all creative power.

The destructive thought and animosity so widespread in our world and political and economic systems today MUST change, but it will not until we understand that we CREATE what we THINK. Mental self-mastery is the first step to becoming a positive creator in today's troubled world. Perhaps I've digressed a bit, but TCF contains the most profound treatment of the nature of mind and thought of any work I know. Annie Besant's Thought Power is another good work for beginners.

TCF is also a fundamental study of the nature of energy and Cosmic Law.

If you know a pioneering physicist with an open mind, please recommend TCF for his/her serious study.
