The Treatises of A Course of Love

These Treatises are a follow on to "A Course Of Love" (ACOL). The Course Of Love appears to be an exponent of A Course In Miracles (ACIM). The Treatises like ACOL use the same vocabulary as ACIM and in fact refers to ACIM many times. ACOL is more earthly while ACIM is spiritually pure. The time of the Holy Spirit (Indirect communication with God) is coming to an end. These are the beginning times of Christ Consciousness (Direct communication/revelation with God) which is our true nature. The Treatises do an excellent job of explaining how to deal with illusions vs. truth thru many references to living in the "House of Illusion" vs. living in the "House of Truth". One of my favorite verses located in "A Treatise on the Personal Self" is as follows:

"19.15 You will be tempted to return to the house of illusion to gather those within and bid them join you in the reality of the truth. But in this time of Christ, a new time, a time without parallel or comparison, this will not be possible. It has been said from the beginning that your role will not be to evangelize or to be convincing. You cannot argue the case of truth in the courtroom of illusion."

"The Treatise of the Personal Self" is the largest but for me the most helpful. Later in this Treatise, we are taught how to deal with illusion. We are taught how to "Observe" without living in the House of Illusion. This Treatise teaches or awakens us to the power of Wholeheartedness (mind joined with the heart).

"20.15 My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let nothing call you to return to the ways of old. They do not work! To minister to those within the house of illusion is to offer the temporary to the temporary when I call you to offer the eternal to the eternal. The new way will work wherever it finds willingness. You cannot call others to abandon their willingness to live in illusion by joining them there! You can only call others to a willingness to set illusion aside and to begin the journey home to unity. You can only call to them from unity if you are already there!"

"The Treatise of the New" goes on to explain how the Son of God separated from God the Father. The Prodigal Son Parable is mentioned many times. The example of a gifted child that grew too fast for the child's own good. To limit our freedom to save us from suffering would have violated the Laws of Creation. Our decision to express the Son of God thru "form" or the physical world was accomplished by separating the Son of God's Mind from God but not the Heart. To sever the Heart would have violated the Laws of Creation. The Heart remains One with God. When the Mind was severed, The Son of God experienced free will and the Ego stepped in to take the place as an adviser on how to "build" a new thought system based on Fear. This was the first mistake. The House of Illusion was built on the FALSE foundation of the Ego. The decision to separate the Son of God's Mind from God was not a rebellion. It was a mutual decision. It was a choice. The Ego thought system has done an excellent job of keeping that from us or as the treatises state "this is what we have forgotten".

Now to the part of the Treatises and ACOL that is different from ACIM. While ACIM is spiritually pure..........as if being spoken to directly from the Divine, ACOL and the Treatises explain that by moving to the House of Truth, we can fulfill our original creative charter of our expression in form or the physical world. We can transform the physical world thru Christ Consciousness.

And what was the original charter in the physical world? It was change! The ultimate freedom and nature of the physical world is CHANGE! The freedom of Creation to express LOVE. The freedom of Creation to expand and enrich thru change.

As Christ Consciousness is attained AND sustained, the need for learning is over. It is still a choice but the need is over. All that is..........is shared in unity.

This book follows the masterpiece, A Course of Love, in which we are taken to a place of understanding and many ACIM principles are clarified with examples. It defines a few new principles and lays the groundwork for the remarkable "Dialogues of a Course of Love," a book which takes you to the bridge. After several frustrated years of re-reading Helen's Course, I am finally beyond studying words and living with direct revelation. The steps and the thoughts that are required were in ACIM all along, we just chose to not see them.

This book is a wonderful addition for those studying or interested in A Course in Miracles! Inspiring and clear in content..
