Product Description

Size: Small

TGuard FingerGuard is based on the same principles as TGuard ThumbGuard: if you break the suction, you break the habit. Designed to be safe, fun, painless, and most of all, effective, Tguard FingerGuard is guaranteed to stop finger sucking by eliminating what makes it pleasurable: the suction that occurs when the child tries to suck his or her finger. This suction is the primary element responsible for pleasure, and is the sole reason why children cannot help but prolong this harmful habit. In order to break the suction, the soft, flexible, non-toxic plastic tube creates a channel for air to flow; which breaks the suction without causing any pain or discomfort. By breaking the suction, you are breaking the habit, and FingerGuard does this safely and easily within 30 days. No more messy nail polishes full of chemicals, or fabric-based solutions that your child can remove; try a gentle, non-intrusive approach that parents, pediatricians, and dentists have recommended for over 15 years: TGuard FingerGuard.

This finger guard really works! I purchased mine from there website because it offered a 30 day money back if it didn't work, how could you go wrong? When we got them we quickly slid it on my 3 year olds 2 middle fingers and he threw a fit at first. He would walk around sucking his fingers so much that slob would be running off his ELBOW onto the floor causing us to slip in it. YUCK! After a few hours he was fine wearing it. Dad actually started feeling bad removed it one day by slipping his finger from under the guard. BIG MISTAKE! From that day forward my son had learned how to slip his little fingers out from under the guard to suck his fingers. More so in the night when we cam in his guard would be ON but his fingers would be out.

** I read on there website that you can take some medical tape and wrap a few strips around his knuckles then slide his fingers back in. THAT WORKED! (if you need to kick it up a notch then add tape around his hand AND guard also.) We were consistent for 1 week with only removing it during bath time & Pre-k and as soon as he got in the car we strapped it back on.

During week 2 one day after he took a bath we left it off so his fingers can dry out and he didn't put his fingers in his mouth at all day OR night for a whole 2 weeks. We went 2 weeks with no guard on but noticed 1 night (when he was sick) he started sucking at night again so we just bought new bands to start reattaching it at night.

I think most kids can kick the habit quick. My son is 3, he doesn't talk and has a delay from being born prematurely. He catches on to things late BUT he was able to "get this" and understand that his hands cant be in his mouth. During the day ever once in a blue he might go to wards his mouth...we tell him no and he pulls his fingers away.

I was honestly very skeptical about this product. My son was sucking his fingers since he was a month old. He would suck them all night and all day,his fingers looked like little prunes 24x7. When I enrolled him into pre-school (he would be 3 yrs old) i knew we needed to kick the habit for the sake of keeping him healthy. Knowing stickers and our standard reward system wouldn't work for his habit, I decided to opt for the finger guard. My son wore it day and night for 4 complete weeks, we only removed it for baths, at which time i would clean it with dishsoap and allow to dry before putting it back on. By the time four weeks had passed the guard was bitten and well worn. We took it off and to our relief and surprise, it had worked! No more finger sucking!

Here's a few tips to parents buying this product:
- Follow the instructions and keep the guard on for the full amount of time instructed (3-4 weeks), and only remove to clean
- Don't make a big deal out of the guard. Even when other parents and kids would ask what the guard was we would simply say "we're kicking a habit". I never wanted my son to feel badly about wearing it so we never got into a conversation about it while he was there.
- I think 3 years old was the perfect age for this "intervention"
- My son enjoyed picking out the color of the band he would wear with the guard, yours may too

I can't speak for the actual product working yet as we've only just received it but it is WAY too big for my seven year old. He is an above average size kid so I trusted the size indicated by the company-which was a mistake. Tonight I ordered a medium. I would say the large would fit a nine year old or larger. I'll check it on my nine year old tomorrow and let you know. Or if your child has chubbier fingers. My childs fingers seem to be a tiny bit on the smaller side due to his sucking them.

As far as how it is made, it is very well made-soft thick plastic and easy to clean. On a side note, because we are breaking a life long habit for this little guy, it is hard on him. He had a rough today partially because he was frustrated with not being able to suck his fingers and then couldn't even console himself...by sucking on his fingers. So we aren't expecting this to be magical and know it will take some patience but really hope it works for him as nothing else has-bribing, taping, putting yucky stuff on his nails, etc. My mom thought he would grow out of it but we can't wait any longer. His front teeth are starting to come in crooked and I figured this is a lot less expensive than braces!

Hope this helps someone else when it comes to ordering the correct size.

It really works. I was kind of shocked it was that easy, didn't think it would be. My almost 4 year old would suck her two fingers a lot (when tired, riding in car, watching tv, at night). We used this for 2 full days (24hrs) and 1 extra night (which was not needed). It is a week later and she is completely kicked. I saw a review saying you needed more bands, but I think there are way more than enough. We didn't take it on and off of her, just left it on. She cried that she wanted it off for the first hour or two and then got very used to it to the point where she asked for it on the third night b/c she realized she wanted to kick this habit and couldn't on her own. My only complaint is that I believe we paid either $75 or 80 a month ago and I go on to write the review today and it is in the $40s. Wish there was some kind of price guarantee. Although in the end we are very happy withe the product.
