Written for all who must keep pace with the evolution of psychiatric treatments, this text aims for a balanced perspective in presenting clinically useful current approaches to the treatment of mental disorders. Seven years in the making, this four-volume set represents the efforts of an esteemed task force, appointed by the APA and chosen for their past accomplishments and national reputations in research and clinical practice. In appreciation of diverse patient variables and divergent points of view, more than 400 consultants were enlisted to review this volume, encompassing expertise in general psychiatry, child psychiatry, psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, biological and social psychiatry, as well as exposure to treatments in diverse settings. The result is an amalgamation of multiple points of view and years of collective experience and knowledge on treatment planning.
