Mitch Bauer, a hired hand for a large farmer, tries to farm as an independent. When his employer finds out, he is given an ultimatum: stop farming on his own or be fired. His friend, Trebn, helps Mitch strike out on his own. Although there are many changes in Mitch’s life, Trebn remains a steady support for Mitch. Will this support last after Trebn dies? Only time and the trials Mitch experiences will tell.
