I heard about this book on WOR radio, and ran out to buy copies for my various godchildren...only to find that I wanted a copy for myself. It is the BEST single guide to the wonderous world of trees....for all ages. It explains the what, where, and why of not only trees, but their flowers, feeding systems, ancestry, and roles in society, with the most beautiful illustrations. And while it's simple enough for youg children to follow, it's a perfect primer for an urban adult who has forgtten about the magic of the woods. I will never look at Central Park in the same way again.

Buy a copy for every child in your life, and every parent, and grandparent as well. After reading this book, we will all not only have more respect for the trees around us, we'll each run out and find a way to plant one. And, we'll know the difference between and spruce and a pine, and what to admire about a flowering cherry.

This book is to nature, what A.A. Milne is to literature [yes, it's as delightful as Winnie the Pooh...but with acorns and leaves!].

excellent resource for parents and children--the illustrations are terrific, and botanical information accurate, unlike a lot of children's books on plants. there are illustrations of tree flowers that you won't find in other kids books on trees. A wide variety of trees covered here, types found throughout the U.S. Parents will learn just as much as kids from reading this.

Each page describes a tree in a story-book form that is entertaining for children to read or listen as their parents read to them. The illustrations are fun as well as educational. It's a delightful book.

This is a fine and well-illustated book about trees for encouraging appreciation of trees. When I discovered it, I knew that my grandchildren would enjoy it.
