Good Info that covers the basics well,

This review is from: Tree Climbers' Guide (Paperback)
This is also available directly from the ISA for a better price than what I see here. I got this book as a way of increasing my knowledge base and to hopefully learn some additional tricks and sage wisdom. What I found is that the book does a good job of covering all the basic principles but it is really geared towards those who are being exposed to Arborculture and tree climbing for the first time. A large part of the information covered is a rehash of topics in the ISA 3rd edition certification study guide. There are many helpful illustrations throughout the book. In case it might help, the book includes the following chapters: 1. Tree health and science 2. Safety 3. Ropes and Knots 4. Climbing 5. Pruning 6. Rigging 7. Removal 8. Cabling The ropes and knots chapter was filled with lots of large illustrations that would be helpful for someone learning knots for the first time. Also the end of each chapter has practice study questions to test retention. |
