I'm guessing that if you are looking at this then you are already familiar with Mark Ryden's work. (If not, click his name for a brief survey, or do a search and you will be rewarded).

So for those of you who know his work, and want to know more about this product; it is a nicely packaged set of large format heavy stock postcard prints from the "Tree Show". The cards have scalloped edges which add a nostalgic feel, consistent with the images. They are suitable for framing (which is what is going to happen with mine), and packaged and produced nicely enough to make them gift-worthy.

I may have to order myself (or someone else) a second set :O

Ryden's work typically sells out within moments of being released, often to turn up second hand for astronomical prices. So, this is a rare opportunity for many people to own a small sampling of his work, and at an unbelievable price (i.e., not much more than you would pay for shipping on one of his microportfolios, if you can get your hands on one).

To be truthful, I ordered this set because Amazon had the book (companion catalog for the show) on back order when I got here. In the past I have experienced the disappointment of having ordered a piece of his work when it was out of stock.... and it never came back in :(

So, I bought this as a backup (and still hope my copy of the book does get here).
The included pictures are listed above. I wrote this review primarily to describe the quality of the cards. It is not a little tear-out book like so many out there. It's a box set with nicely produced heavy stock cards.

There appear to be other sets. I want them all!!!

For such a low price this is a great collection of Mark Ryden images printed on postcard sized stock and made to look like vintage postcards. The edges are curved and slightly yellowed which add to the charm.

It looks really cool. Haven't had the heart to open the package yet. I was planning on framing the cards when I had the time. Good art is always worth it.

As usual, Ryden offers some of his best artwork in a little, but great collection of images printed on postcard sized stock. The postcars have been intentionally made to look like vintage postcards, aged and possible used, which gives them a more "old style" fashion whic simply makes them irresistible.

However, the serious collector must be warned. Although the pictures displayed on Amazon shows this as the first printing Portfolio (green cover), the real one shipped is the second printing, which has a red oak cover instead.

My boyfriend had ordered this for me specifically from amazon because the photo shown was of the first printing of this item. Which is the pictured version. Amazon had mailed us the 2nd printing which is the red version.

The item is s till the same but the value isn't. I was really hoping to receive the item that was advertised in the photo.

If you're looking for the first printing of this item which is the green book - don't buy here.

Amazon: I suggest you change your stock photo to the 2nd printing so we know exactly what item we are receiving.

So - 5 stars for the micro portfolio and 2 stars for receiving a item different than what was pictured.

I'm a new admirer of his work, and these cards are great! I've got several accounts on Postcrossing.com, and I can't wait to send them out to people that will enjoy them. Wonderful images!!

Gorgeous postcards arrived in the loveliest peek a boo window case. Perfect for gift giving or receiving. Very nice quality. If you know someone who is a Mark Ryden fan..this is sure to please!

Another fabulous series by the GREAT Mark Ryden!King of the lowbrow art!The Sequoia Park is very close to my hometown,so this series is quite personal and special to me.As with all of Mark Ryden's work,it leaves you with a warm,happy feeling,amazement,bewilderment,and awestruck!The little girls are perfect,with their little 1950's dresses,white crisp socks,black patent leather mary janes to the EVIL Lumber Driver!These are images not to be forgotten!I have these cards hanging in my bedroom!I got them for my boyfriend for his birthday!(A huge fan of Mark Ryden)He was verrrrry happy with the cards ,as well!
