5.0 out of 5 stars Great Text and Photos but Solely Old Testament, February 23, 2007
This review is from: Tree and Shrub in Our Biblical Heritage (Hardcover)
This book is informative and has great photographs, many in color. Unfortunately for me, it only covers the Old Testament stories, analogies and references - think oaks of Bashan, cypress trees, the burning bush, Samson's rope, the tamarisk tree, etc. The few references to the NT are only biblical quotes in a small aside, like the crown of thorns and Zaccheus in the sycamore tree. Some of course duplicate, like the olive tree and sycamore tree, but surprisingly few do.

If I were either Jewish or studying the Old Testament and had some extra cash, I might buy it. (I probably should have thought about it more - to me, 'Biblical' means the Old and New Testaments, and I didn't get beyond that.) Aside from that, I definitely wouldn't buy it and I wish that I hadn't spent the money. I'm not saying it's not a great book - it just doesn't fit my needs.
