Don't be fooled by the length of this collection, or the length of the poems in it; the poems offer much more dimensions to them thanks to the fact that they are in both English and Italian. I am not sure which one he wrote in first, but from my limited understanding of Italian, I think some of them were written in English first while others were in Italians first. But they compliment each other in that the creator is also the translator, hence creating it for a second time. Very worthy introductory volume to this poet. Would love to see what comes next.

This is a really interesting collection: I've read plenty of poetry in translation, but it's unusual to find works composed simultaneously in two languages. There's an engaging dialectic at play between the Italian and English versions of each poem which ends up making the whole more than the sum of its parts, and I'm impressed by poet Lapo Melzi's ability to marshal their very different rhythms. Looking forward to seeing what he does next!

Beautifully intense and lush. Immerse yourself in the imagery. Mr. Melzi has a talent for using words that not only gives you an understanding of how he feels about love, loss, and life, but also help the reader get in touch with his/her own feelings. As I read, I could see, feel, and almost taste the raw emotions in the poetry. A book that will enrich you in ways you cannot imagine.Tree of Words: Albero di Parole (English and Italian Edition)
