5.0 out of 5 stars This is a MUST BUY for rock/worship fans., August 17, 2001

Good News (excuse the pun), Christian music fans! Tree63's CD is one of the finest CDs I've listened to, and the fact that it is a Christian CD is an added bonus. Tree63's sound is a combination of Collective Soul's alternative pop-rock and U2's edgy rock. The CD is full of rocking worship songs, songs that make you tap your feet and sing along and worship the Lord at the same time. These guys are extremely talented and this CD is truly exceptional. I think even non-Christians would enjoy the music.

Highlights for me are the sweet opening song "Treasure", the guitar rich "Sacrifice", the driving "Earnestly" (which reminds me of `80s alternative pop), the beautiful ballad "A Million Lights", and the fabulous "1*0*1" in which the opening guitar riffs will make you think U2's Edge has made a guest appearance. That said, though, let me just add that there isn't a weak song on the disc.

But the best song of the CD, and one of the finest worship songs I've ever heard --- and sang along to --- is "Look What You've Done." Every time I hear this song and sing along, I can't help but really listen to the words I am singing... "What can I do for you my Lord? / I want you to know my heart is yours / It's not a question of what you can do for me / But what can I do for you my Lord?"

Here's hoping and praying for another Tree 63 CD real soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars This band are just gonna get bigger and better!!, April 17, 2001
This review is from: Tree63 (Audio CD)
In answer to the question, 63 refers to Psalm 63 which inspired the original 63 album released in South Africa and the UK in 1999. Tree63 is not actually their first album (first International yes) but they released Overflow in 97 and 63 in 99. These will no doubt be collectors items already and if you are lucky enough to have one then hang on to it! Tree63 is actually a combination of or 'Best Of' some of the tracks off each of these two albums. So, in fact Tree or Tree63 as they are now known are fairly mature already in terms of album releases. There was also the extremely limited but very popular tREeMIX CD released in South Africa which contained 5 dance mixes from the Overflow album. tREeMIX contained the intro music used at their very successful live shows in SA and the UK in the late 90's which really kicked! This is an awesome band and if you love good rock songs with a great uplifting message then you'll love this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy worshiping pop music, June 30, 2001

I heard this group in concert and I thought they had a good sound, so I bought their CD. The sound of this CD is very upbeat and happy, which is infectious in both a good way and a bad way. For the most part Tree gives us a fresh, enjoyable sound, but this type of music always tends to get a little annoying after you've heard it a lot. Tree is a very talented band that definitely has a future in the States. They are already very successful in South Africa (their home country) where they have hits even on secular rock stations. I enjoy this CD and will continue to, and I think you will too. It is a good idea to get in on this band early because they very well might get big once they get better known. The best song on the disc is clearly Treasure, which is an excellent song. There are also some other good songs. Overall, a good, happy, and definitely worshipful CD which is worth a listen!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, May 24, 2002
This review is from: Tree63 (Audio CD)
This album is so unbelievable. The music is so original and the words really stick in your heart. If any open-minded person listened to this album they would no longer be so close-minded to todays Christian rock. I really can't compare this group to any other, Christian or secular, so just check it out (if you like great male vocals and catchy melodies that you want to repeat over and over again - especially "1*0*1")

This CD is so utterly fantastic and so-unlike most other forms of modern-day rock or worship (it's really a combination of the two) that is pretty much defies words. You just have to hear and allow their transforming and humbling message to emmanate through your heart. I heard these guys in concert as an opener for RSJ and was hooked by the time they finished. They're soo high-energy and their name, Tree63, stems from the fact that they are from South Africa and the 63 Psalm talks about a tree full of LIFE out in the middle of a desert. This one is def. better than their second CD (Absolute Truth), so if you're even thinking about buying it, do so today and you won't be disspointed!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth getting, February 10, 2002
This review is from: Tree63 (Audio CD)
This Album will definitely change your view on God. The songs are God centered rather than self centered. Here are some examples to illustrate what I mean: "What can I do FOR YOU my Lord?...It's NOT a question of what you can do for me..." "My great reward is IN YOUR eyes" BR>The only draw backs with this album is that musically, though beautiful, one gets tired of it rather quickly. Also, song #9 is boring both musically and lyricaly. I wonder also how biblical the song is.
Over all it's worth getting, believe me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, reminiscent of The Police, awesome worship., October 21, 2001
This review is from: Tree63 (Audio CD)
I got this CD about a week ago. I had heard a few of there songs on the radio and was finally able to find the CD locally. The stuff I had heard on the radio (Treasure, Anthem, Look what You've done) appealed to me as worship music and I expected the rest of the CD to be like that. I got exactly what I expected. Song after song of worshipful lyrics, with a style that reminded me a lot of Sting, but totally annointed. I have been listening to this CD constantly since purchase, and have started doing the songs in our church, with some amazing results. If you're looking for great worship, with a groove that doesn't quit, then this is the CD for you.

Anybody remember The Police way back when? Very similar sound but with a positive message. Pay attention to 101 and What Have You Done, by far the best songs on the album. Enjoy!

I ran into Tree63 on Amazon when I was browsing through their Customers who bought this album also bought these albums thing. It's a really awesome CD with a different kind of sound. "Earnestly" is the first song I heard on this CD and it's still my favorite. "Earnestly, earnestly Lord I seek you My soul thirsts for you." A lot of the songs have worship lyrics like this that are really inspirational and accompany the unique musical sound. I'm pretty tied on how I feel on the rest of the songs on this CD because they're all so good. If you can get a hold of some of Tree63's other songs online or elsewhere you definitely should, particularly "Perfectly" and "Fisherman". The sound will probably appeal to you if you like Audio Adrenaline, especially their later stuff. I can't wait until this group comes out with another album!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Not Be Missed CD, May 25, 2001
This review is from: Tree63 (Audio CD)
Tree63, South Africa's priemere worship band has come on the American scene with a huge splash! This cd is reminiscent of Delirious? Sonic Flood and U2. In this self titled release, John, Darryl, and Martin shine! The songs are cutting edge in both music and lyric. From the opening cut "Treasure" on the album rocks while bringing you to the throne! 1*0*1 is a powerful song with a great message and is currently rocking the charts on SA radio. I can not reccommend this Dove award winning album any higher! Add this one to your collection ASAP! You will not be disapointed.
