Product Description

TreeWorks Chimes. In the summer of 1996, was created by Mitch McMichen. It began in his garage in Nashville, Tennessee. The first set of chimes was made with a hacksaw and a hand drill. It didn't look like much, but that was the first step to crafting the perfect set of chimes. When asked about the early days of TreeWorks, Mitch replies, "I wasn't trying to start a company. I was trying to find a sound." Since then has grown to become the most respected chimes in the percussion world -- used by top studio and touring drummers and percussionist as well as the top 24 drum corps. These instruments are still handmade in Nashville, Tennessee and are unmatched in craftsmanship and sound quality. (It is of note that Mitch McMichen has earned Gold and Platinum records for his recording work in Nashville.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Tree Works Chimes, February 3, 2010

I gave this to my boyfriend as one of his Christmas gifts. He absolutely loves it. It has become a great addition to his percussion line up and the rest of the band thinks it really adds a great element to their music. If you're looking for some chimes, you can't go wrong with TreeWorks, they make a very high quality product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional ... almost, October 27, 2011
This review is from: TreeWorks Chimes TRE23 Medium Single Row Chime (Electronics)
One thing is for certain, these chimes sound sunning as a whole. If however, you are using them in a complex movement and need more control (playing very slowly or only a few bars at a time), the two rows are pathetically out of tune to each-other. Occasionally you will find a pair of bars that are 1-3 cents off (which is acceptable), but the great majority are 20-40 cents off their supposed paired drone bar. For those who don't know the measurement of cents: being 20-40 cents off creates one pitch of (for example) a perfect "A" while the second pitch is as much as a half tone or more-typically a quarter or eighth tone off.

Again, as a whole you simply hear a full chromatic scale and it sounds stunning and full. Playing a few bars or single bars at a time (usually with a triangle beater) is hardly an option. Maybe the studio models have a better pitch-pairing construction.

Still, these will be more than nice enough for scrutinizing persons like myself.
