Tree Works Chimes,

I gave this to my boyfriend as one of his Christmas gifts. He absolutely loves it. It has become a great addition to his percussion line up and the rest of the band thinks it really adds a great element to their music. If you're looking for some chimes, you can't go wrong with TreeWorks, they make a very high quality product.

One thing is for certain, these chimes sound sunning as a whole. If however, you are using them in a complex movement and need more control (playing very slowly or only a few bars at a time), the two rows are pathetically out of tune to each-other. Occasionally you will find a pair of bars that are 1-3 cents off (which is acceptable), but the great majority are 20-40 cents off their supposed paired drone bar. For those who don't know the measurement of cents: being 20-40 cents off creates one pitch of (for example) a perfect "A" while the second pitch is as much as a half tone or more-typically a quarter or eighth tone off.Again, as a whole you simply hear a full chromatic scale and it sounds stunning and full. Playing a few bars or single bars at a time (usually with a triangle beater) is hardly an option. Maybe the studio models have a better pitch-pairing construction. Still, these will be more than nice enough for scrutinizing persons like myself. |
