Biography

DEAN FRIEDMAN - Bio

Dean Friedman first marked his entry into pop consciousness with the Top 20 chart success of his infectious hit single, Ariel, a quirkily irresistible and uncategorizable pop song about a free spirited, music loving, vegetarian Jewish girl in a peasant blouse who lived, as the lyric goes, "...way on the other side of the Hudson".

Friedman scored again with the release of his… Read more in Amazon's Dean Friedman Store

This review is from: Treehouse Journals (Audio CD)
After putting out two of the finest singer-songwriter albums of all time in the 70's, Dean has been quietly writing and singing while pursuing other avenues of creativity. This latest homegrown effort is one that definitely grows on you. The unique voice hasn't aged in 25 years. The quirkiness of lyric and the eclectic musical stylings are still very much in evidence though the subject matter is very much more mature, family focused than the earlier themes of urban, youthful, single malehood.

Although the musical style is more rootsy and folky than earlier works the lyrical stance has kept pace with Dean's core audience, 40+ folks who have survived the frenetic pace of youth and lived to reflect on more rooted values as family, friendship and kids as well as the trials of the family pet!
Dean, I love it........I feel like I'm listening to my own heart.
Oh, by the way....the stand - out songs?...."Summer Days", "One Autumn Afternoon", "George Washington Slept Here", " No school today"

3.0 out of 5 stars TREE HOUSE JOURNALS FROM AN IRISH FAN, November 12, 2002

This review is from: Treehouse Journals (Audio CD)
THE STANDOUT TRACKS FOR ME ARE " YOU AND ME BABE & THE SADEST GIRL IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD". POSSIBLE NOT AS GOOD AS "SONGS FOR GROWNUPS" BUT STILL TYPICAL FRIEDMAN. THIS ALBUM WAS FINANCED BY HIS FANS (INCLUDING MYSELF) AND GIVES DEAN THE SCOPE TO DO HIS OWN THING WITHOUT THE RECORD COMPANY BUTTING IN. IF YOU LIKE FRIEDMANS LOOK AT LIFE, THIS IS A MUST & DON'T FORGET HE IS PROMISING ANOTHER ALBUM NEXT YEAR....
