A delightful ecological history of the Jewish People,
By A Customer
This review is from: Trees: The Green Testament (Paperback)
In a comic-strip format ideal for teenagers and light readers, Kirschen presents a comic history of Israel and the Jewish people. One emerges with an enriched appreciaton for ecology, and a view of the basic values of Zionism: self-reliance, concern for the Land, and an understanding of Jewish History.

This review is from: Trees: The Green Testament (Paperback)
In a light entertaining way, this comic novel manages to relate not only the story of Israel, but the values of the Jewish people and a powerful ecological message. You don't have to be a pro-Israel advocate to derive enjoyment from it. I have given it as a gift to several thirteen-year olds who have loved it. It still has relevance for today.

By MIS (Denver, CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Trees: The Green Testament (Paperback)
Kirschen has always had a talent for capturing the essense of a topic--hitting that inner truth that makes us laugh in recognition. Here is a history of Zionism told from the viewpoint of the trees. It is both a touching and funny romp through history, suitable for young and old. I hope a new edition is forthcoming!

This review is from: Trees: The Green Testament (Paperback)
A beautifully written (and beautifully drawn) account of the history of the Jewish people and their connection to Israel. It is told through the unique perspective of trees. It is a fast read. It should be given to every Jewish child when they become a bar/bat mitzvah.
